Get Lenses : Coloured Contact Lens Review

| October 7, 2012 | 8 Comments

I wear contact lenses all the time.  I’ve been wearing them for around twenty years. I haven’t, however, ever tried coloured contacts.  So when I was asked to review some, I was delighted.

The lenses are from Get Lenses (www.getlenses.co.uk) an online company that sells many different types of contact lens. Including daily and two-week disposable, a type of lens I hadn’t heard of before.

Whilst looking at the site, I also discovered Acuvue Oasys contact lenses. These lenses have been specially developed by Johnson & Johnson for people who work at computer screens for long periods.  These are definitely something I’m going to look into, I think they are a great idea.

The lenses I would be reviewing were the Freshlook Colors they come in packs of two and you have 6 colours to choose from. The price is dependant on the amount of lens you buy but no more than £12.99 per pack of two.

freshlook lens violet and blue

I choose blue and violet.  As you can see from the photograph they are not a very harsh or intense colour, in fact they appear quite subtle colours when in the sealed pack.

I already have blue eyes, but they have navy flecks, in some lights.  I thought it would be interesting to see them a lighter, more true blue colour.

Well, I have been wearing my ‘Freshlook Colors’ lenses  for nearly two weeks now.  As with other reviews, I think it only fair if I’m going to write about them, I give them a true test.  These are monthly disposable ones, so I thought two weeks would be a fair trial.

Here are the results :

The first picture shows me in the violet lenses, the middle is my own eye colour and the final photograph are the blue lenses.

Wearing them is no different to wearing my usual month contacts, though they are slightly bigger. This took me about an hour of wearing before, they completely settled in my eye. Since then however, they have felt exactly the same. I experienced no discomfort or irritation, at all, and I wore them for my usual 8-10 hours.

I love the colours, and I think they actually look very natural.  When you look at the lens it is not a block of colour but made up of pixels of colour.

I would definitely buy these, I think my favourite is the violet lens, which surprised me. I cant wait to try them with very smoky eye make-up on a night out. I just need someone to take me out on a date now….Tall Dad! ;)

  5. Colored contact lenses are the perfect finishing touch to any costume. And weirdly enough, coloured contacts are also a cheap and fascinating way of enhancing your look if you’re a perfectly ordinary mook.
