This is my entry into the Debenhams Dream Bedroom competition as seen on the award-winning bloggers Annie of Mammasaurus and Jen from Love Chic Living.
When I saw the competition I thought it was the perfect opportunity to let my imagination run wild, and create something completely different to what I have already, which is very plain, creams and golds. I wanted something that had a background that was fairly neutral but modern white and grey, but with pops of colour and humour….something to aid me out of the bed even on the bleakest of mornings.

I decided that any self-respecting dream bedroom, needed a beautiful bed, so I went for a gorgeous Tennesee bedframe. Solid and well made, I think the colour gives a real anchor to the room. Of course I needed to go for a mattress too, and I spotted this amazing bargain mattress for less than half price and as both myself and Tall Dad suffer with a bad backs, this would be bliss to sleep on I’m sure! I added bedding, two sets, to make it easier for laundering. Then I needed to layer colour and texture to the bed, so some luxurious (2 of each) cushions, and a beautiful silk throw. I love the Pets roch pop soup cushion, and I thought it was important to add a bit of humour, and having just bought a puppy, very appropriate!
I also found the most amazing 10 drawer storage unit, perfect to make sure all of your bits and bobs could be hidden away, that’s got to aid restful sleep, hasnt it? There are some great pieces in the Sand and Grey range, including wardrobes and dressing tables. I love the strong lines, colour way and that there aren’t any protruding handles. I did look at the matching bedside cabinets, which are great but wanted to use something more eclectic instead. So I went for the white, trunk style cases, which I would place each side of the bed. Fill with the latest books you are reading and place a lamp on each. I think they would look give a really funky twist. You could even pile them higher if you wanted more storage, or use them under the bed.
In my dream bedroom I would also have to have a chaise. There is nothing I would like more than to lounge on my very own chair in my house. One that I didn’t have to fight one of the children for. I might even let Tall Dad use it from time to time….scratch that, this is my dream room, he can get his own chair.
I want my dream bedroom to be a sanctuary and to me this would take my bedroom, from just a room to sleep, to a place to spend time in and feel luxurious. So with this in mind, I thought I would add a little bling, to the room too. The lamp shade I thought was just the look I was going for, as well as the silver diamante triple coat hooks by Julien Macdonald. I would use them to hang necklaces and belts from though, definitely a decadent feel. I added a glamorous baroque style mirror too, as I would be of course be needing this to apply my make-up for the school run. Which I would do effortlessly everyday, after getting dressed, following slipping off my gorgeous matching chemise. Yes, I even thought about what I would wear in bed. Seriously, I have put a lot of thought into this, dream!
So what do you think, have I fulfilled the brief of a dream bedroom, I know that it covered all of the bases of mine.Thank you for reading,
