My first I Love… of the New Year is a very special one I feel. Andy Hau is a London-based designer whose designs, are very special. He really does design from the heart, with so much thought, research and emotion.
Tales from the war and other short stories is his first dalliance into soft furnishings. There are four cushions in total in the collection, all of which I have fallen in love with. Each cushion has been given a title, as if it were the chapter of a book. The all also, follow the adventures of fox called Harlequin – Quinn for short. His inspiration behind the designs was his own childhood experiences, as well as his Grandfathers tales of war.
You can see all four ‘chapters’ and purchase the cushions HERE. My two favourites of the designs are ‘The Fox & The Lost Soldier’ and ‘The Fear of Drowning’
They are beautifully made, measure 40x40cm and printed on a heavy weight 10oz canvas. They are reversible, with the back pattern being a foxtooth one, a witty play on a houndstooth check. I especially love that they feel nostalgic and yet modern in their design. For such a beautiful cushion, they are surprisingly only priced at £30 each. For me they rich blues and orange colours are perfect. I’d love to know what you think?
