Last weekend I attended The Mercanteinfiera International fair of modernism, antiques and collectables, held in the Fiere di Parma exhibition grounds, in Parma in north of Italy. It was a vast space, of over 1,000 exhibitors spread over 5 buildings. As I wandered around the fair, I was impressed by the diverse collection of items available.
There was a large amount of furniture, jewellery, both fine and costume, there was fine art, old icons, and the most amazing chandeliers.
I especially loved the vintage suitcases, perfect for the most classy of storage in the home
Though I would love to use the Louis Vuitton luggage to travel with too.Glass and china wear also were in abundance. This ranged greatly in price and age. I loved these brightly coloured crackle glasses, that were only a few euros to buy each.
A suitcase full of memories, so intriguing. There were lots of very cool retro pieces, with the clean lines that I love. I couldn’t resist taking a photograph of these vintage trimmings. What a great way to make something unique with.
You could even buy a jukebox complete with vintage records.
Mercanteinfiera is Europe’s oldest international fair of modernism, antiques and collectables, and this was the 34th time of opening up its doors. It;s attracted more 50,000 visitors from all around the world for its Autumn edition. It is the largest event of its kind in Italy and happens twice a year.
With dedicated food and drink areas, where we enjoyed an espresso. I even used one of the ATM’s on site, when I decided I just couldn’t leave the fair without a vintage camera, made in Milan that I spotted. You can also take advantage of the shuttle bus from the Parma city centre. The organisers have really thought of everything!
Finally, even though cars are not really my thing, I was stopped in my tracks by the amazing ones on display and for sale at the fair. I am sure Tall Dad would have liked this white Mercedes for weekend trips into the country.
I’ve always loved Vespa’s, such an iconic brand. I wanted to share this image, which was of my favourite Vespa at the fair, and it wasn’t until I got home I noticed in the background the pink pet carrier, I want one even more now!

Oh my, that looks amazing! Just think of the adventures those suitcases could tell of if they could speak. I can imagine you and tall dad zooming off in the white Mercedes for a weekend in the Italian countryside, with your blond hair tied with a headscarf, and looking all glam like Grace Kelly. (I’d be like Bridget Jones and arrive a total mess!)
