I’m not great at listening to people analyse me, and I was a little hesitant about someone analysing my home, as I really do think how you decorate is a good indication of the person you are. My stomach just knotted at the thought of it. So when I was asked to send some photos of an area of my home containing some of my most treasured possessions for comedian Mark Watson to comment on, I lied to myself, that it would be great fun not a scary thing at all. *cue screams*
I need not have worried, as Mark gave me a fab low down on what he thought of me, based upon my favourite possessions. I’m going to add the images I sent him to this post, so that you can also judge me, hopefully kindly…ha!
Some of my favourite lines from Mark were :
Upon seeing my Camp Bestival Programme ‘This is the kids version of the drugs orgy that is Bestival’
When he noticed I had a dog ‘This is indicates someone with a poor standard of living, so dogs can drift freely in and out.’
Everyone thought it was really funny, though they did raise their eyebrows at him thinking I wasn’t a neat freak, especially my eldest daughter, who fears me going in her bedroom!
The project was in association with Money Supermarket and called Home Truths (#MSMHomeTruths) and was to highlight home insurance dilemas:
When filling out a home insurance quote people are made to value their possessions in monetary terms, when in fact their real worth lies in the memories and feelings associated with them. In some ways your possessions are an extension of yourself, which is why when you insure your home you are also protecting your personality.
This I think is incredibly true as some things we own are much more than what they are worth. I chose my desk, as its where I keep all the memories from my travel abroad and are things I honestly can’t replace. Its also where I store lots of photographs of my family and my two favourite cameras and all of these are so precious to me.
If you want to see all of the other people involved in the campaign you can do so on the Money Supermarket site HERE. Its definitely worth a look, he really is funny!
So here is the video of Mark analysing me and my home, would you agree?
I think the conclusion was so lovely, and I’m going to definitely agree, because it was so complimentary ha! It also kind of sums up why home insurance is more that just replacing possessions.
‘…this person is well loved by their kids and the rest of their family, what a successful life’

First of all, how do you keep your house so neat. Secondly, can I come live with you? Thirdly, interesting project, video and thoughts about possessions. Enjoyed the post.

Awh, that’s lovely, and I think anyone would come to the same conclusion from your gorgeous house. You are well loved and blessed A. And like Jennifer, I have to ask can I come and live with you too?
