I love Mondays
Design Vintage : I Love Mondays
I have a gorgeous I Love Mondays post for you this week. It is both a online emporium and a store in Brighton. Its full to the brim with vintage, furniture and accessories, together with modern pieces called Design Vintage.
Its the kind of site that I could really pore over, and looks like a must visit, if you are a lover of vintage and are ever down to Brighton.
I have three of my favourite picks I want to show you. First up are these Industrial French Lockers :
What a gorgeous colour they are , the handles are fully working and the paint is original too! Wouldn’t these look amazing in a hallway, so easy to keep everything in its place. Or even in a bedroom, they would really give a great vintage twist to a room. They are priced at £575
Or how about this vintage solid Oak French champagne rack. They originate from the Champagne houses of France where they are used to store the champagne. Traditionally, bottles are stored at this angle and turned on a daily basis (‘Riddling’) as part of the champagne process.
If I had any spare space in my Kitchen I would buy these in a flash, at £195 I think they are great value. Design Vintage will even cut the rack to size for you if you would like it smaller.
And finally how about this
French Dolly Tubs were used as a wash tub. They suggest that these are now great used as planters in the garden. I’ve got to agree a standard would look amazing, especially one that had that some of the greyish blue hue to it, like a lavender, or an olive tree. They would look beautiful.
So what do you think, would you like to add some vintage charm to your house?

Innovation for the Bathroom : I Love Mondays

A very special I Love Mondays post today, as I have a brand new product, soon to be released to share with you.
I’m not a fan of our en-suite, I really wish it was big enough for a bath, to relax in. Well as I have been scanning the internet looking for alternatives, I came this world first from Bathstore. They have come up with the perfect solution for small spaces, as it is the same size as a basic shower base.
The revolutionary Vertical Bath™. It is so hot off the press they are not even in stores, you will need to wait until the end of April to order yours though.
The water slowly and gently fills with warm water from the base up. I love the design of the Vertical Bath™ too, modern take of claw foot bath and a great idea to marry tradition and modern day technology.
Chief Bathstore developer Dr Nisan Aptal said
“We all like a good soak, but with modern living spaces getting smaller and smaller we wanted to find a way to still ensure you could fit a bath in even the tiniest bathroom.
“Once we had the basic design down we tested a series of prototypes and eventually struck on the idea of including air-holes at head-height. We still don’t recommend adding bubbles; it can get very foamy in there.”
It seems that there is also a function to quickly drain the water, so you are not waiting for it to empty either…a great idea! My only concern is that you can’t use bubble bath, however this is a small price to pay, to get what you really want for a small space. Its a bathing revolution!

I Love Mondays : I Love Bread and Jam

Today I would like to introduce you to a gorgeous company, that sells amazing girls dresses. I Love Bread and Jam is a small but perfectly formed company based in Oxfordshire, that is the creation of Sofia Dyson, who has two beautiful girls, just like me! Each season they make one style of dress, but in a whole collection of retro inspired fabrics. Bread and Jam’s dresses are very limited editions, full of style, colour and just the right amount of humour to boot. The dresses are 100% cotton, and are made in Wales.
I’m going to pick out a couple of my favourites from the just launched spring, summer 2013 range. This season it is the turn of the Runaway Dress (£29) available in sizes 2-10 years old. It is a A-Line dress, with a large pocket at the front, trimmed in a contrasting fabric.
First up is Barbecue Queen :

I just love this Sputnik like design on the fabric. I can imagine in the barbecue season that it would be a firm favourite. Or when it get a little chillier, with leggings and a long-sleeved top underneath, it’s a great colour-way too.You can see what I mean about the humour now, can’t you?
With such a limited run on each of the size dresses each season, you are also almost guaranteed, not to see another one as well.
Next up Plain Sailing :

I choose this because, it was so pretty, both with the use of fabric design and colour. Bread and Jam dresses are just timeless classic designs, I think. They are given a retro twist with the fabric choices, and a modern one, with the humour that is used.
Now, if you would like to have the chance of winning your very own Bread and Jam Dress, watch this space, as this afternoon I am hosting a competition to do just that. Miss A has also had the pleasure of reviewing a Bread and Jam dress. Hold onto your hats, it’s a beauty!

Just in case you are new to this blog, this is a feature I write once a week, that includes some of the things that we love at The Ana Mum Diary. I am trying to help rid the Monday blues with beautiful things. I will virtual shop for your every need. Perhaps introducing you to something that you may have not seen or been to before. A must see site or new idea that I want to share with you. You are in good hands, so sit back and grab yourself a cuppa.

I love Mondays: 5 Fabulous Toy Storage Idea

If like me, you are still looking for solutions to cleverly store toys, then this post should really help you. I have sourced some really fabulous and stylish solutions to sort the toy clutter!

First up is this idea from A Place for Everything. Because in the end, with all good intentions of putting everything away at the end of playing, the perfect solution is that things can be organised and clearly labelled so that a child can help too. These boxes are, I think is the perfect solution for this. Plain white, with blackboard front, so they will go in most décors. As long as you don’t overfill, look great stacked. Priced at £21 for two boxes, I think they are a very good price for their size.

These canvas bag, are from Cox and Cox, and are made from a stiff cotton, priced at £20 each. I absolutely love the retro styling of them, and they are on my want this, for Miss A’s room. They even have a wipeable liner, making them practical too. They also do ones for hat and shoes, which are equally gorgeous.
Also from A Place For Everything site – I really love this set of three large themed toy storage boxes. Usually they are £60, but are reduced to £44 at the moment. Each of the boxes has four different characters moulded within the plastic on each side aimed at creating a bit of fun whilst encouraging the kids to tidy-up after themselves. I know the Miss A would really love mixing up a pirates head with fairy legs, anything that makes tidying up a little bit more enjoyable is a winner for me! They can be easily moved around too, as the base has wheels.

If you can source vintage low level drawer units like these, they are very effective for toy storage, as are the baskets to the right. Because they are low level they are easier for children to help tidy away. Also because there are multiple drawers or baskets, the toys can really be easily sorted into categories and labelled.
My eldest daughter has just had a new bed, a Daybed we found at John Lewis. Daybeds are fantastic, as they tend to be a little higher. So the storage boxes, and drawer units will fit neatly underneath, hiding any unnecessary clutter. She also feels it’s more sophisticated now she is the grand old age of 10!
Finally storage, that displays toys :

These are from a spanish company called Bel and Soph, they are perfect for all of the toys, that are really too beautiful to be hid away. I’ve not found any in the UK, so If you know of anywhere that sells them I would be really interest to know.
So how do you store you toys?
