The Day The Queen Came To Nottingham

The Day The Queen Came To Nottingham

Over 35,000 people turned out in Nottingham today to greet the Queen, Kate and William.  I am really regretting not taking Miss N (9) out of school for a couple of hours into town so we got our own slice of history. Miss A (3) is too young really to have appreciated it.

To be honest it had not even crossed my mind to do it.  It wasn’t until I was chatting at school pick-up that I realised that lots of parents had done this.  The more we spoke about it, more I had a feeling of regret.

I will however share with you some really fantastic photographs that Tall Dad’s cousin once removed ( I had to google that) the gorgeous Grace Vernon took, at The Market Square today.

Apparently there will as many street parties for the Diamond Jubilee as there were for the Silver Jubilee. With more than 2 million people celebrating organised street parties. I personally don’t think you need to be a fan of the royals in order to take part in the celebrations, they are more than that. It is part of our culture and I feel like I want my children to have memories to cherish.
