Its been a while since I joined in on the Listography. But I love my cookbooks with a passion. So had to give this one a go. Here are my grubby and very well used favourites.

Is Jamie Olivers Epic Hot Chocolate, Well…..Epic?

Following watching Jamie’s Christmas with Bells on this week, I just had to make Jamie’s Epic Hot Chocolate.

My eldest daughter Miss N loves hot chocolate, so thought this would make a great handmade gift for her this Christmas.

I bought a half litre preserving jar from Lakeland.

I added all the ingredients as per the recipe HERE (please click to see) apart from the 100g of dark chocolate. I really wasn’t sure if the mixture was going to be WAY too chocolaty. So I decided that instead, as the hot chocolate came to the boil I would add 3 squares of Green and Black’s butterscotch chocolate. I thought this would work really well, and add a different dimension.

So because of this twist on the original recipe I thought it only right I tested the recipe (a Mum treat ) I only used enough milk for one mug, and added 3 level tablespoons of the Epic hot chocolate and three squares of the butterscotch chocolate.

I was surprised at how easily the mixture came together, I honestly ~~hoped~~ thought it would be lumpy (I’m a fan of lumpy custard..I know very strange) but no it was smooth and silky, a double cream like consistency. I’m positive if you increased the amount of powder it would turn out more like the thicker example that Jamie used to mop up the waffles!

Perfectly balanced, not powdery, and very, very chocolaty!
