This is my final post in my New Year Resolution Series, and its an important one, as tomorrow I will be walking from Nottingham to Derby (approximately 15 miles) in aid of Sports Relief. The cycling crew are out there now, cycling a gruelling 50km in the wind and rain.
As one of the biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active raise cash and change lives. The money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people both at home in the UK and across the world.
They will be passing that baton on to the gorgeous and very determined Becky from Baby Budgeting, who will then solo cycle another 10k.
The baton will then be all ours, the Nottingham walking team. Which is myself, Jen, Emily and Louise. We will be are wearing our Robin Hood, Merry Men, and one lovely Maid Marion costumes which have been very kindly donated to us
Thank goodness, I have been spending the last nearly two months increasing my fitness, as I am feeling very nervous now. I have now lost 8 pounds, so something is definitely working! I’ve just been packing my bag with some snacks, spare socks and blister plasters.
I have just seen the amazing news that we have raised over £20,000 as a team, and over £1,000 for Team Nottingham. We would really love to raise lots more though, so if you would like to support us, follow THIS LINK to the Nottingham fund-raising page. Every £1 we raise really does make a difference, so please donate if you can.
The first ever Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games take place from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd March 2014. The public can join the fun and games by running, swimming or cycling their way to raising cash at over a thousand venues around the country, including the landmark events at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
