Speck : iPad Air and iPhone 5s cases.

| February 25, 2014 | 2 Comments

Looking for cases to protect your gadgets, such as my iPad Air and iPhone 5s can be a tricky business.  Especially as these gadgets are expensive, and very breakable in a busy family home.  I’ve made wrong decisions in the past, and this in itself is an expensive mmistake.

I am trialling Speck cases in this review, and I’ve been very impressed with the results.

My iPad Air is new, and I had bought a new apple iPad case for it at the same time, but I could not get on with it at all.    I use my iPad every day, for emails, searching on the internet, social media, even netflix.  As I write this post on my laptop, I will have my iPad next to me open at a point of reference for the topic I am writing.  So how it opens and its stability is crucial, as much as its ability to be protected as it is moved around the home and elsewhere.  This is why I was so impressed with the Speck Folio case.

It can be moved to various angles to view, I counted 5 different angles, not including it being flat.  One of those angles, is a great and comfortable one for typing.  It has a soft contrast felt lining – blue in this case.  It feels stable even though it is extremely easy to readjust the case.

There is a clasp to keep the iPad shut when not in use, and the buttons at the side of the iPad were really easily accessed as you can see above. I thought the addition of a clasp was a good idea to include, as it provides extra security.

There are so many colours and design variations available with the Speck Style Folio.  These designs are not available currently in the UK, but I will update this post once they are. I think they will be in the region of £35 once they are launched.

I am also reviewing a GemShell – £24.95

I decided to go for this as I usually have a brightly coloured case, and my new iPhone 5s  is a gold version. I like the idea of having a clear case, so I could see the gold colour of the iPhone.  I really love the effect it gives, as well as how much protection too.

  • GemShell case fits iPhone 5s and iPhone 5
  • See-through style. Sleek, crystal-clear finish lets your iPhone’s sophisticated design shine through.
  • Glossy one-piece shell. Flexible, durable materials provide refined, rock-solid protection.
  • All-around protection. Raised bezel keeps screen safe and pristine; rubberized covers shield buttons.

Overall I’m very impressed with the Speck cases, I cant find anything to fault them really, and would definitely recommend them.
