It’s not the best view of my kitchen, and I’m always really tentative when I open it, not only because I’m worried I won’t be able to close it again but especially when I have friends over. We all have this kind of drawer somewhere in our home don’t we, it’s not just me? I’m actually embarrassed to show you this part of my kitchen…but I will, I just ask that you please don’t judge me. Ha!
I present to you…the drawer of doom, also known as the bursting at the seams utensil drawer:
It’s just awful isn’t it? A jumbled and overcrowded mess. A very deep kitchen drawer sometime can be a organisational nightmare and I seem to have accumulated and hoarded so many cooking bits and bobs over time. This drawer was in desperate need of an overhaul. Well Joseph Joseph to the rescue!
I was sent two Joseph Joseph cooking sets, to rid me of the terrible kitchen utensil clutter. First up Elevate Kitchen Tool Set : £48.
This must-have kitchen utensil set includes a spaghetti server, slotted spoon, ladle, solid spoon, slotted turner and flexible turner. Each has a nylon head, perfect for use with non-stick cookware, which is great because I’ve now thrown out my very old metal ones that scratched new pans. Keeping a few of them for the BBQ in the summer. The Joseph Joseph Elevate™ set is heat-resistant up to 200°C/392°F. Each also has a heat-resistant silicone handle, which is very comfortable to hold and in pops of colour to add a dash of rainbow to your kitchen.
The cool thing about the Elevate™ range of kitchen tools is that all of them include a tool rest and a weighted handle which means when you place it down, the head of the tool or knife does not touch the work surface. Such a great way to reducing counter top mess and improve hygiene.
All the utensils are dishwasher safe too, I threw away all of my very old wooden spoons which definitely weren’t, another win!
The Foodie – £42 : The perfect gift for the foodie in your life, this set includes four essential kitchen gadgets and utensils; a multi-function potato peeler, a Scoop™ colander spoon, Elevate™ Steel Tongs and Twist Grater™.
Again, with this set I was able to throw out old, broken and too large utensils that I was cramming into the drawer. I had two graters, both of which didn’t really work that well. This grater is nice to handle and sharp, cuts cheese and harder items like carrot like a dream! I already owned a larger version of the scoop, so I knew its was good, this one is great for smaller pans though, or smaller portions of food (e.g. peas) to drain without the need for a colander.
So here is the drawer now :
It feels so good to actually be organised at last!
Thank you to Joseph Joseph for the gift and emergency help!

I love my Elevate™ Kitchen Tool Set. Purchased it several years ago as a celebration for saying ‘goodbye’ to stressful job. Using these tools daily and son loves to carry them around the house. I need to look at getting the foodie set in the future. Thank you for sharing.
