We were given the chance to review this enchanting musical story, Rockfords Rock Opera, available on itunes for iphone, ipad and ipod touch.
Rockford’s Rock Opera is a story of a young boy called Moog who’s from Battersea and his dog Rockford. Its a called an enhanced audio book. What this means is they combine a audio story with animation, as this is an rock opera it also has fabulous songs too!
Rockford’s Rock Opera has now been downloaded or streamed on the web by well over 1,000,000 people. Its is acclaimed by teachers, educationalists and pupils, in the classroom, its ecological story and lesson plans have reached an additional 800,000 school children across over the world.
The story is also available in CD form, I have one set of these to giveaway, but I’ll cover this at the end of this post.
So we at The Ana Mum Diary were given the opportunity to review the 4 apps or chapters of the story.
Its really incredible how creative people are when it comes to ‘apps’ and this venture really is. The UK couple Elaine and Matthew Sweetapple, came up with this together working with comedian Steve Punt and a developer Apache Solutions. There is also a website you can visit http://www.rockfordsrockopera.com/
Its aimed at, 6-12 year olds, so I thought it was the perfect chance for Miss N (9) to use her reviewing skills to tell you what she thought of it.
Firstly here is a sumary of what its about:
Far away in the Sea of Tranquillity lies the Island of Infinity, home to the last one of every extinct species.
Infinity has a secret for the world but Moog, a boy from Battersea in London, and Rockford his dog, are the only one who can deliver its message. Travelling to Infinity Moog and Rockford get drawn into an adventure in sound that threatens the entire human race.
You can down load each of the chapters by following these links:

I LOVE IT!!!
I was an voted as the 3rd year Eco Warrior at my school last year so when my mum told me what the story was about I couldn’t wait to start, so I could tell all my friends about it too.
I loved the main characters, but I especially loved the creatures and people that Moog and Rockford met on the way. They had great names, and they kept me interested all the time. The voices connected so well with the character, and the music was cool and suited what was happening in the story. It was full of surprises, twists and turns. You didn’t know what was going to happen next and it’s funny too! I couldn’t wait until the next time I watched it again (I had to fight my mum for the ipad).
Can’t wait to see the film!
Thanks for letting me use this, I will use it again and again. I give it 10/10!
So there we have it, a great success!
