It’s been a really busy day here, Miss A has reached 3 years old. So I’ve been busy preparing for a little tea party. I thought I would share the cake that I made for her. She absolutely loves Tangled the movie (based on Rapunzel) and so I really wanted to make something that was loosely based on it. It was so simple, bit of a cheat really, but what do you think?
It was made up of 12 cupcakes with lilac wrap-arounds and (Tangled) illustrated rice paper discs. Butter icing, I tried to make purple icing by adding blue and red food colouring, but it turned out brown?! I also really wanted to pipe this, but unfortunately the piping nozzle I ordered didn’t arrive on time. I was gutted as Christy of Chris Tea And Cakes, who makes the most impressive cakes, had given me so many tips I wanted to try out.
I also sprinkled them with white chocolate stars. The stars play an important part in the movie, as she maps them, in order to work out what the strange lights are that she sees each year on her birthday.
I then pushed 8 ring doughnuts onto a kitchen roll holder for the tower. The roof being a party hat, which Miss N painted for me.
She loved it, I felt so pleased when she exclaimed “WOW!” when she first saw it, even with the dodgy icing! My VERY easy Tangled Birthday cake.
Thank you for reading

Thank you….I was desperate to do a tower, once we realised doughnuts would look OK, a freind said how about your kitchen roll holder, to keep them up. So pleased with it! Tasted fab too!

I think it is creative, awesome and easy and therefore my kind of kid’s birthday cake!

Thank you! It really was easy! We also had pasta, which is Miss A’s favourite, but we called in tangled hair.

That’s fantastic Amanada, no wonder she was made up. LOVE the teetering tower of glass cake stands, adds that element of danger that should be present in all baked goods. It reminds me of my kitchen, I have a massive stack of cake stands and bon bon jars that my OH was concerned about (it must be risky as he doesn’t usually give a shit about H & S!!)
Sad your nozzle didn’t arrive in time but thanks for the shout out and you have no excuse not to make more now you’ve got this beauty under your belt. xx

How cool is that!!!! Never again will I spend 5 hours icing a princess castle when I know something like this can be achieved in a fraction of the time!
