Described as a Shadow Puppet Menagerie with a 3D finale, Swamp Juice (suitable for children over the ages of 7 years) is a feast for your eyes. We arrived and took our seats curious as to what was about to happen. The stage at Lakeside was filled with what I can only describe as odd and ends, scraps, a white screen, a washing line filled with clothing and a lowly man, with his back to us busy at work.
What we were about to see was so unexpected!
The lights were dimmed and Canadian performer Jeff Achtem begin the show…
I don’t want to give too much away, as Swamp Juice really works,in my opinion as a surprise. The show has an element of audience participation that is fantastic and fun. We laughed so many times and jumped when we were spooked…which was a lot!
I would describe it as a wonderfully enchanting, bizarre and imaginative. A mad cap show.
I would love to think it shows the inner workings of a genius mind.
A must see!
This show is part of a Wheee! Lakeside’s International Childrens theatre and Dance Festival.
