Action : Medical Research for Children (Paddington Bear’s Birthday)

Tommorow, the 25th of June is Paddington Bears summer birthday, like the queen and me (I’ll tell you about that another day) he has two. Paddington is the official mascot of Action Medical Research. To raise awareness of this amazing charity, I am asking if any of my readers who are on twitter, facebook or pinterest, could send a message of birthday wishes.

The reason I am very keen to support this charity is that medical research into conditions that can devastate children’s lives are in fact very poorly funded. However medical research really can save and change children’s lives. Research currently covers Downs syndrome, premature birth, epilepsy, meningitis, diabetes and other rarer diseases.

Thousands of schools and nurseries are choosing a day when the children bring their teddy bear. Why not join them and hold a teddy bear day of your own. The idea is that every child brings in two pounds with their bear, as a simple and fun way to support Action Medical Research. Once registered, a FREE fundraising pack including stickers and a poster and a guide to activities like the always popular teddy bears’ picnic is provided. And some of the activity sheets can be used as a bear related lesson plan!
