You may remember that I was challenged recently, to do a room makeover on a budget. I choose do buy some things for my outside area, and I was really chuffed with the impact I made with £50.
Well today, I am writing about a Big Summer Night In, thanks to a £50 budget from Money Supermarket. Lets face it, its beautiful weather in the UK at the moment, so I seemed a shame to waste it by spending all the time inside, so we started off our evening yesterday with a picnic outside. I bought a bottle of wine and some nibbles, and we enjoying the balmy evening, reminiscing about past holidays and places we would like to visit in the future. The girls paddling pool was still out so we dipped our toes in the cool water. After a while it became too chilly, and those pesky gnats I think they are, or maybe mosquitoes, were flying around ready to take a nibble. So we decided to go back inside.
I knew I wanted to watch a DVD of some kind with Tall Dad for the big night in, we both love films but it had taken my so long to decide which one to go for. Its Tall Dad’s birthday on Monday so I was a little more inclined to buy something that I knew he would love. So I bought from Amazon the complete series of Star Wars on blu-ray. Trust me if you haven’t seen Tall Dads Chewbacca impression, you are really missing a treat. 😉 So we ended the evening, with the TV set up in the conservatory with some old-fashioned sweets (really the best kind) and the first of the movies.
I went completely over budget, the bluray’s alone were over £50, but with over 40 hours of special effects, I think they really are a bargain!
The Ana Mum Diary – Big Night In Tips.
1. Save money by using what you have. If its cold outside why not cosy up by the fire, or like we did in summer take advantage of the warm weather.
2. Go retro. We loved both talking and watching something that was from our past…so many lovely memories. I’d forgotten how fine Harrison Ford good a movie Star Wars is. 😉
3. You don’t have to have an evening for two, invite a bunch of friends along, maybe dress up, everyone bringing a bottle, or a dish of food. Oh darnit, I could have dressed like Princess Leia…maybe next time!
