Returning to work after several months away is a difficult time for every woman. It can take a while to get back into the swing of things and many will find that they miss their children when at work whilst relishing some time that holds on to their identity before kids. This is all normal and to be expected but there are ways to strike the perfect balance when returning to work.
Instead of returning to full time employment, certain individuals may enquire about part-time office vacancies in which they work two days a week in the main office and the rest of the week from home.
Those that plan on committing to this working schedule must ensure a good working environment at home. This often involves setting up a study, as both the kitchen table and living room have their fair share of distractions. Most that work from the kitchen find that they rise every other hour to source some sort of snack, whilst those that work from the living can be tempted by the on-screen offerings of the TV.
Creating a study area isn’t as hard as you may think and such a room offers a great ‘work at home’ solution. This room will usually consist of a desk, a supportive chair that is comfortable to work from and several storage areas. Many will place a sofa or two in the study to create a comfortable working environment. I found coloured sofas a great investment, especially for those that wish to add a hit of colour to an otherwise drab room.
The beauty of part time work is the versatility. Many women will choose to organise their time wisely. Good organisation skills will enable parents to take their kids to and from school whilst utilising the time that is free in between to complete work.
Those that work for a larger company will often be able to access the works server from their own computer at home which will allow them to work remotely. Those that require such access must ensure they have the correct software installed on their computer to allow access and ensure safety but other than that you’re ready to work!
