For this weeks I Love Mondays post, I wanted to write about Emma Bridgewater. I am surprised I have not included this company before to be honest, as Emma Bridgewater and their beautiful cream coloured earthenware is a great love of mine. I have always had a love for pottery, and think it that Emma Bridgewater is a great example of a fantastic British product, made and hand decorated in Britain, in Stoke on Trent actually, in the Midlands, near to my home town.
Emma Bridgewater has grown and evolved, so much over the years, from a real kitchen table start-up business. It still is owned by the original husband and wife team Emma and Matthew, who continue to work together on the designs, and they always reflect their loves. Their designs can now be seen, not just on their teapots though, but on radios, glass, textiles and on tins!”
So what are the items that I like in the Emma Bridgewater range? As you can see above, I have collected some of the Pink Hearts range, which I still love. The mug I actually got for valentine’s day from Tall Dad, and it has my twitter @ name hand painted on. I swear a cuppa always taste better in it…or if someone else makes it, either or. 😉
I also love the Toast and Marmalade range, which has lots of different designs within it. They work really well together, with the yellow and orange of the Marmalade pieces contrasting perfectly with the black and cream Toast range . Marmalade has scattered Seville oranges on it, and reminds me of summer, whereas toast has a real monochrome look, very vintage look.
I especially love the new Black Toast Bold & Beautiful 1/2 Pint Mug above. This is definitely going on my wish list. Here is how it is described on the site.
Want to be bold, bad, beautiful and brave, and consequently able to grab life by the ears and shake it? Forget self-help books, and drink your tea from this mug every day instead. Front: Bold, bad, beautiful and brave. Back: Courageous, clever and cool
That’s definitely going to give you a little boost every morning, I love it!
I think Emma Bridgewater items make great gifts, and with this in mind, I love this teapot :
It would make a great new home, engagement or wedding present. This is one of Emma’s designs, as she has a real love of samplers of which this is based. Really lovely isn’t it? It can be personalised, with names or a special message.
Do you have a favourite Emma Bridgewater design, if so I’d love to hear what it is in the comments below.
