Are you looking at renovating your bath or shower room, and needing some inspiration? A complete bathroom renovation can be (after the kitchen) one of the rooms with the most decisions to make, as well as one of the most expensive ones to change. So it’s important to put in the research, and find out as much as possible about the styles and options available. Well, let me look at 4 key ideas that are around at the moment, and how they could work for you.
Showers :
There is a lot of discussion at the moment about green issues, and people are reconsidering putting larger and free-standing bath tubs into their homes because of it. Is this a true reflection of time poor people not longer spending their time leisurely bathing. Or simply that we are now thinking more about the environment perhaps? How about adding instead a luxurious steam shower from somewhere like Insignia Outlet, or a Hydro Massage shower, to pound all the worries of the day away. Both of these options, are ones I think you could easily overlook, if we didn’t know about them, but importantly both have great health and skin benefits.
Style :
There has been a recent resurgence into the clean uncluttered lines again in bathrooms. Especially as simple and contemporary works whether you have a small, or large space to renovate. I love that this has given rise to oversized showers, which have with no shower screen, or looks like there isn’t one because the fixture are near invisible. It gives a great clutter free look to a room.

Colour
More unusual colours in the bathroom has definitely been a standout trend for me. Clever use of colour on the walls as well as in the bathroom fixtures, was something I saw a lot of whilst I have been at researching trends and attending interior shows.
I love the Dulux 2015 Colour of the year Copper Blush, but there are lots of colours including stronger options that work just as well.

Tile
I think the plain white subway tiles will always be popular, and they work really well in a bath or shower room. In 2015 however, we has seen more unusual tiles come to the forefront. I went for an unmatched patterned tiled floor in my en suite to add colour, interest and a vintage interest last year.
How about embracing the darker black or inky blue colour trend that is around, but in a tile? The navy blue almost black in some lights, has a great depth and richness to it. It feels quite cocoon like in a bathroom, and is an unusual look. The shape of the tiles too, is something that you need to consider.
Don’t be afraid to experiment, and try something different!
So that is 4 bathroom ideas for today’s featured post. There are many more which I will also be covering in the coming weeks so watch this space.

Nice post, I really love those floor tiles! What a great way to add colour to your bathroom and so much fun! Do you buy them as a pack or are they all separates?
Thanks.
Amanda Cottingham says
Thank you! You could do both Stephanie, but the ones in the picture are a pack.

This is some really great advice for anyone looking to revamp their bathroom. I had never heard of the two alternative showers you suggested, but they both sound pretty appealing. And I really liked your point about the style of modern showers, and how they have moved toward minimalist and contemporary designs, with near invisible glass shower screens. Thanks so much for writing!
