{M}iddle {A}ged {M}en {I}n {L}ycra
The scourge of the many households and indeed streets this January. You know the type, right? Those men most likely to want to spend their weekends on an overly expensive bicycle, dressed top to toe in too tight Lycra bicycle shorts and jerseys. Hopefully holding in that *ahem* middle-aged spread?
Well whilst your other half is off being a MAMIL, you can go use this time wisely and treat yourself, have a little me time, like I did courtesy of New Covent Garden Soup last weekend when I went for a colour and restyle at Toni & Guy.
Here are few my top treat suggestions….
- A trip to the local farmers market. Stock up on some of your favourite delicacies, discover something new.
- Take yourself to the cinema, the local art gallery or to see a play…
- Buy that thing you have been putting off, or do that thing that you never find time to do. I’m sure there are lots of things you’ve been putting off, now’s the time!
- Grab yourself your favourite hot drink, wrapped in the softest dressing gown and read your old favourite novel, or the one on the best sellers list that you spotted the other day.
- Visit a spa, totally relax and be pampered, you deserve it!
Or as I did…
- Book yourself into that fancy hair salon, you’ve been wanting to try for ages, take with you a bunch of magazines and relax…I went for a different colour and cut, even having a fringe, I’ve not had those since I was a teenager! I love it!
These sound perfect don’t they? Well New Covent Garden Soups have come to the rescue with a chance to win a MAMIL survival pack for both yourself and your partner. There are only 500 MAMIL packs in total, so you need to be quick. Here is the link http://newcoventgardensoup.com/mamil-quiz/ fill out the quick quiz and they will do the rest!

This is hilarious. I’m not sure he quite counts as middle aged yet, but Ollie ticks every other box… overly expensive bike (check) lycra (check)….

Loving your new hair Amanda! You look gorgeous!

Thanks Nadine. I’ve not had a fringe for way over 25 yrs…. I think I’ve gotten used to it now.

Richard cycled a lot before we got married…To Skegness and back from Derbyshire, for example…He was a bit saddle sore but thankfully we could still have kids(!) Early in our marriage he put his cycling shorts on…Which always seem waaaaaaaayyyyy worse when they are in shiny lycra. Put it this way, after my reaction, he has never put them on since.
Amanda Cottingham says
Ha ha, I’m now trying not to imagine Richard in shiny Lycra….
Sonia says
You look amazing Amanda! Hope you are OK! Have been thinking about you. If James ever touches Lycra I’m leaving him 😉 xx
Amanda Cottingham says
LOL, its the devils fabric right?
