Last week I wrote a post on my newly delivered and built summerhouse from Waltons. So this Easter Sunday, I wanted to share with you a sneak peek at how I was getting along with the interior, before I do a full reveal of the inside and outside, I promise I’m nearly there now!
Well, I’ve been very DIY busy, in time for the Easter bank holiday! Working alongside my good friends at Next I’ve added a little colour and retro fun to the interior of the summerhouse. A well as adding a few true vintage pieces, more on that to come in the next post. I’ve been so excited to share this all with you.
As this was a room I’m going to be furnishing from scratch, I knew it was important to make a mood board with some of the pieces I wanted to include. This gave me the opportunity to plan it visually before I ordered the items. My idea for the summerhouse as a whole was that it was going to be relaxed, fun, retro and have some greenery, whether inside or out.
Here are the pieces I liked:

All were ordered, and arrived really quickly, most the next day actually. It was only the chair that took about 4 days, but was still really quick. Now this isn’t the final positioning of the furniture, I’m still playing around with it, however here is how it’s looking so far :
The perfect spot to grab a bite of lunch!
I love how the orange adds a retro and spicy pop of colour to the room.
My first choice was the set of two canvases – £40, I’m really into the retro look, and I thought these were a great way to add that to the room, it gave me lots of colour options too. They are light weight and easy to hang on the summer-house walls, I used command strips to hang them. If you’ve not tried these I highly recommend them for unconfident DIY people like me.
The Next Carter chair is fantastic quality, a steal at £199 I think, and very comfortable. Its got a classic but vintage look, in a textured light grey fabric. It’s also available charcoal, natural, orange and teal. I loved the contrast of the simple dark (black) feet.
I became a little obsessed with this large glass orange bowl, you know when an item invades your dreams, so you know you just have to have it? Well that’s how I felt about this orange dotty glass platter for just £12.
It’s just as pretty and a picture, and practical too!
As this room was for relaxing I wanted to add somewhere to put my feet up. I’ve got to have some perks hey? So I ordered the Next oversized dog-tooth bean cube for £45. Just the right height to either chill, or use to rest my cuppa. It can also be used as extra seating.
I was so chuffed with the cushion for the chair, as it was a great colour match, and good value at £18 for something appliquéd, and it included the inner cushion too.
A side table was essential, but there are so many fab designs to choose from on the Next site, it was difficult to choose my favourite. I finally went for this Black and Mirror Side Table (£60). With its simple clean lines, the black echoing with the feet of the chair. The mirror finish helps bounce light around.
Finally the embossed vase – £14. I was determined to have something that I could use to display my home-grown flowers in from the garden (I’m seriously going for it this year) and thought this vase would be perfect. It’s a great shape and size and continues the fun retro style I was looking for.
So that’s how it’s looking so far. I have my fingers crossed for good weather over the Easter break so I get to spend some time up there. I’m thinking I’ll sneak/hide in there with a coffee and a magazine in the morning. Shhhh don’t tell anyone…. 😉
I would love to know what you think, please let me know if you like my Next finds, I love them!
All Next items were gifted by Next in order to complete this project.

You’re so lucky to have a summer house and judging by this it’s going to look amazing. I love the punchy colour pops, they are so vibrant and bold. The new range from next was a perfect choice. It’s got so much character.

I think most Mother’s would love a she-shed to escape to on summer day. I love the ideas you have chosen from Next. The grey with orange is cheerful and calming. A touch of retro feel. Can’t wait to read more about your shed soon.
