HOME : Opulent monochrome

Well I do hope are all well and rested after the weekend. Today I thought I would introduce you to a company and its gorgeous products in a mood board I had fun making over the weekend. I love finding new websites that sell interior products that are so inspiring, I can’t resist a little fantasy home shopping. So that’s exactly what I have been doing on the Pavilion Broadway website.

It all started with this gorgeous monochrome Duresta Coco sofa, upholstered in Allure Noir.

She’s a beauty, isn’t she? I’m all about the soft furnishings when I look at a new sofa, it’s as much about the cushions I choose as about the fabric the sofa is in. You can see that the sofa has some scatter cushions, the large scatter cushions are upholstered in Solitaire Noir, and the medium scatters are upholstered in Taomina Black. How about using the sofa as a backdrop for a pop of colour too? I’d go for summer brights of coral and bright turquoises I think as an alternative.

With studded arms (see below image) and along the back, this Duresta sofa really is a gorgeous statement piece. Investing in a good sofa makes complete sense, especially if you think how much use they get, and how well they can hold together the whole ‘look and feel’ of the room they are in.

Duresta sofas are handmade and hand sewn in the UK by skilled craftsman. Constructed from two types of hardwood; beech and tulipwood, the triple dowelled sofa frame is incredibly strong and rigid yet lightweight, with the tulipwood kiln dried to prevent it from bowing and twisting. There are two types of springs used in Duresta chairs. The seat is coil sprung which provides a durable base for the seat cushions and serpentine springs are used on the back for the ultimate in comfort and support.

I then looked at how I would style a room. I wanted to keep it simple and monochrome, but play with amazing quality and opulence Duresta sofas have by adding touches of gold too. This is a little bit if a departure from my usual colourful style, but I’ve really fallen for it :

Strong clean lines, it feels like a room that would be a modern classic, luxurious and sumptuous. Its a room set I imagined I would dress in a column of black or white, with strappy flats like the ones to the right of the mood board. You can tell I enjoyed this one can’t you?

I love the princess wall art I found on the Pavilion Broadway site, and it helps tie in the whole room with a more period Art Deco feel, as does the horse. The tonal rug, has some warm tones as well as monochrome, so having all three colour elements. I couldn’t resist playing with the idea of the coffee table and the lampshade matching in an opposite way, it adds a little humour to the scheme I think.
