Remember my post about a 21 day detox I’m doing? If you missed it HERE is the post I wrote. Well, I’m just over halfway through the detox, on day 13. The longer I’m on it, the easier it’s getting. I think the first 5 days are the hardest in terms of the strictness of the diet, but slowly as you are going though the plan, more foods are being introduced, making it feel easier. As with all diets or healthy eating plans at first its your willpower and newness of the diet that keeps you going, but I’ve found that as that waned (I don’t think I’m alone with that happenening) new habits have started to creep in. Plus new dishes to try, so its gotten easier, and I’ve not been bored, which I worried was going to be the case. I’ve started to look forward to checking what I am eating the next day, and looking forward to trying something new.
Spicy vegetable stew with tofu croutons
Because the plan is split into 5/6 days, each with their shopping lists, you can (as long as you go backwards to things you’ve eaten in previous weeks) tweak what meals you make. I sometimes do this, as well as change between pescatarian/vegetarian and the vegan menus. I do go for something else if the meal contains tofu (see above picture) which I’ve tried to love, but it’s just not for me. The ability to adapt the menu, has really suited me, and I think if it was completely rigid I would have given up.
This isn’t a diet where you are going to feel hungry, you are in fact eating three meals a day, with two snacks in between. You can even add an extra piece of fruit if you are feeling hungry, or in the need of something sweet. You can also add ‘free vegetables’ and salad to a meal, all of which is described in the app.

One huge change has been the amount of water I drink. I am terrible, the worst at keeping hydrated, and I was dreading trying to drink a couple of litres of water every day. I didn’t manage it at first, but I didn’t want to beat myself up about it, knowing that would hamper me, and my mindset. Any change was going to be a positive one for me was the manta I kept saying to myself. However as I increased the amount I drank each day, I found myself getting thirstier, and at around day 6 I was able to drink between 1-1.5 litres a day. Now I’m up to 2 litres at day 13. I’ve noticed a big difference in my skin, not just on my face but my body too, it definitely looks clearer, more plump and less aged.
There is a detox water that is recommended (recipe on the app) which I have made some days, and its recommended that you pace yourself drinking throughout the day. You can, of course, buy drinks, check these detox drinks for some great ones to purchase. I had a new water bottle which I knew was half a litre so made sure as I had my morning coffee each day (yes you are even allowed up to 2 coffees) I filled my water bottle, and kept it with me all day, refilling it as I needed.
There are actually a couple of things on the app munus, that I’d even describe as me craving….and they are really healthy ones too – who am I? There is the easiest snack recipe for a tahini dip which you have with raw vegetables that I could eat everyday, it’s so simple and delicious. Also almonds with a piece of fruit and apple crisps.
I did weigh myself after the first 5 days, and I had quickly lost 5 lbs in weight. I was so surprised, I’ve never lost that amount so quickly. I think at that 5 day in period I needed a boost, which this absolutely was. I’m not going to weigh myself until the I hit 21 days now, as I’m sure my weight will flutuate up and down, and I don’t want to be obsessed with the numbers, something I have a tendency to do. I’m doing this to feel better about myself, and to reset my attitude to what I put in my body. I’m also hoping to get rid of a little of the weight around my middle section. So the number will be irrelevant if I manage to do all the other things.
