This is a review of the newest of the offerings from Shark, the cordless TruePet with DuoClean and Flexology -IF250UKT. Now I’ve heard a lot about Shark Vacuums recently, you see them advertised on the TV and online lots. I’m also in a member of an online cleaning forum (yes I’m that into cleaning) and Shark is the top vacuum mentioned in a favourable light on there. It’s not the brand I did use ( I actually have a standard and cordless Dyson) so I was intrigued to give it a try. I was asked by Shark if I wanted to review the newest model and give my unbiased opinion, and I jumped at the chance. I’m also not a fan of vacuuming, so anything that challenged that I was happy to give a go.
I have been reviewing the Duo Clean for over three weeks now. I’ve used all of the attachments, and I’m going to go into more details about all of those and the features that I think you will be interested in. Overall though I wanted to say that I was blown away with how easy it is to use, how strong and powerful the suction is, even for a cordless vacuum. It’s actually changed the way I feel about vacuuming, and my routine, as its so incredibly simple to use.

It’s easy to put together, and took me less than a minute to do so. There was a little charge in the battery, but I decided to fully charge the batteries first, and it took around 3 hours to do this, using the double charging dock.
Introducing a world’s first. The only cordless vacuums with DuoClean and Flexology technologies. Purposefully designed for pet owners, making every day cleaning easier, faster and more convenient than ever before. Experience a new kind of cleaning freedom. The freedom to clean anywhere in your home with its sleek, lightweight cord free design. Freedom to glide from carpets to hard floors without having to change brush roll heads and the freedom to Charge, Store and Reach anywhere in your home.
Whats different about Shark, and the DuoClean.
Over the years I’ve used several different brands of vacuum, one of which was cordless like this one and I’ve noticed lots of differences using this vacuum. It really is different, it looks, feels and works like a Rolls Royce of a machine, and most importantly, it is so effective at its job. The first time I used it, I vacuumed my stairs and landing (which had been done using my old vacuum two days previously) and the amount of dust etc it picked up was shocking! My old vacuum obviously hadn’t been doing the job very well at all!
Tackling those awkward stairs.
DuoClean Technology – Unlike other vacuums that have a single brush roll, DuoClean vacuums feature two unique rolls that work together to remove the three types of common household messes from carpets and hard floors. This means that is quick and you aren’t having to mess around changing heads on the vacuum.
Removing small and large messes in a single pass and effortlessly lifting that stubborn stuck on layer of dust, whilst restoring floors natural lustre. The addition of the second soft brush roll means you can enjoy a continuous deep clean without breaking your stride, moving seamlessly between carpets and hard floors without stopping to switch heads.
You can see here that at your fingertips you can change from carpet to hard flooring, as well as two different strengths of suction.
Flexology – This is the ingenious bit for me, and the flexibility of this machine covers so many bases. You can reach, store and charge your vacuum anywhere in your home!
With just one click on the wand you can reach under furniture (tables, beds and sofas) accessing usually hard to reach places easily. I love that I don’t now have to move this table to vacuum the rug for example.
Store anywhere. With one click to fold down the flexi wand, it halves the size of the vacuum, also making it completely free-standing. So there is no needs for storage units on walls and it doesn’t need to be propped against a wall, which marks the wall after a while. It’s a really neat compact design don’t you think?
Folded and freestanding
Flexible charging. You can charge anywhere with two removable, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Unlike other cordless vacuums that are fixed to one charging station, this Sharks batteries can be charged in situ on the vacuum or straight to the battery using any power socket in your home. I love that with this model there are two batteries, so I can do the entire house if I need to. I live in a standard sized four bedroom house and I need around a battery and a half worth of power to do all of it. I believe you can buy other models with one battery if you lived in a smaller home or flat.
Why I liked it!
There are so many reasons why I like this shark cordless vacuum. I love that it can convert to a cordless handheld vacuum which is great for tackling stairs, which is always a tricky job. I also love how simple it is to add the attachments.
Now the model I have is the True Pet one and includes Sharks Motorised Pet Tool, which can be used to remove the embedded hair from floors and furnishings. I actually found it also great on the stairs, because it was small. As a house with 3 females with long hair as well as a dog, it tackled that area brilliantly.
Anti-Allergen Complete Seal technology assures those with allergies. Capturing and holding up to 99.5% of dust and allergens inside the vacuum and not back into the air you breathe.
As someone who suffers quite badly with hayfever and other allergies, I’m looking forward to seeing if it has an effect on those in the coming months.
I mentioned earlier that I need around a battery and half of power to do my whole house in one go, and whilst testing the vacuum this took me 40 mins. The promise is 44 minutes of run time from a single charge with this double battery pack and dual charging cradle, I actually found it to be over 50 mins.
Finally, I wanted to say how impressed I am overall with the vacuum, it looks and feels well made, it has impressive attachments that take you from floor to ceiling when cleaning. My initial impression of it feeling slightly heavy was allayed once I turned it on, as it cleverly feels like it self propels making it very easy to maneuver.
Prices vary but currently there is a discount on the Shark website of £100 making it £379.99, for this level of technology and cleaning power I think it is definitely worth it!

A friend once asked me about a good alternative to a Dyson which she thought was too expensive, I think I will recommend this one to her. It even seems to have more accessory tools than the Dyson.
