Over the weekend it was cold but gorgeous in the sunshine. We spent a little time in the gardening, finishing up some jobs we need to do before the real winter weather set in. I think one more session out there and we will be done. It’s that lovely in between stage now in the UK. We still has some colour from the remaining flowers, and the air feels crisp and smells so fresh. I love this time of year. We finished up a little later than we thought we would, and it was getting dark. So we lit our fire pit for some warmth and sat on our outdoor cushions, rather than getting out our more formal furniture, which we’d put away. It was so lovely to just chill together this way. We may have made s’mores together too!
My garden this summer with some of my outdoor cushions.
I love outdoor cushions, like these from Simply Cushions NZ. Whether you are looking for small-sized ones that decorate and add comfort to outdoor furniture or over sized floor and bean bag style cushions. They are both practical, and add comfort. They come in various colours and patterns, so adding a pop of colour and style to your outdoor space. They are usually in a more robust and shower proof/resistant material like acrylic, olefin and polyester. If you are using cushions outside its important to use ones that are suitable for the job, as you don’t want them to fade and lose colour, or go mouldy.
Sometimes outdoor furniture can be very hard and uncomfortable, so these are just perfect. They are multifunctional, think about using them in a play area, like this tent for children. Or for casual dining together on the grass with a picnic blanket.
Floor cushions designed for the outdoors are so perfect eat for really creating a lovely unstructured feel to a seating or lounging area. Also so handy if you have children, who seem drawn to them as a way of cushioning them as they play. We wouldn’t be without ours, they get used so often
I think its important to talk about caring for you outdoor cushions :
- Try to use the sun to dry wet cushions if you can
- Clean printed/non-solution dyed fabrics with warm water and a mild detergent (use the instructions on the cushion)
- Solution dyed fabric may be cleaned with a mild detergent, water and bleach (use the instructions on the cushion)
- Use a soft bristled brush to help remove stubborn dirt
- Wash in cold water only
- NEVER use a tumble dryer
- Protective covers are a valuable investment, and can id cared for last you many years.
Do you have them in your outdoor room? I’d love for you to share what style you have.
