Another week, and another update on the blog from me. Lots to tell you about today. Over the last week, I’ve done a few little tweaks to the living room, adding pink and pale green cushions in silk and linen I love the contrast of these two materials. I also bought some gorgeous blush pink linen curtains that I hemmed for the french doors in the living room. I’d forgotten how much I love doing jobs like that. Oh and I also repotted some plants, this room is going to look like a jungle one day – I hope!
I didn’t do as well with my diet, as I only lost a pound (9lbs in total since 1st January) but I did do lots more walking. Really carefully meal planned for this coming week, so I’m hoping for a better loss next Monday.
So lets talk more about the title of this blog post – The Tales of the Travelling Door Mat. I came up with it when between Christmas and New Year, when I was sent one of the new look Turtle Mats, a Lume in the ‘Palm Frond’ design. I soon realised its unlike any door mat I have used before. I moved it around the home, trying it out on different surfaces, as the first thing I noticed was how well it gripped the floor. There is nothing more annoying, and dangerous than door a mat that moves around.
So I thought I would take images of how it looked on each of surfaces, which I’ve included at the bottom of this post.
I wanted to first use it in a more traditional way, as a door mat at the front door, and I do think that it looks really smart. I love the pop of colour that contrasts again the tile, it makes a real statement I think. I have used it for over couple of weeks now, and also washed it, as it been quite muddy and wet in our area. Those dog walks can get messy! It looks just as good now as when I first received it I think.
It doesn’t feel like a traditional mat, as its soft underfoot, but don’t let that detail fool you as it feels robust too, and really grips onto any of the dirt on your shoes as you wipe them.
There are lots of designs to choose from in the Lume collection. Some of my favourites are the watermelon and pineapple ones. I opted for the palm leaf botanical inspired mat, as I’m actually am thinking of adding wallpaper in that kind of design in the downstairs loo, the door of which you can see on the left. I love the tropical trend, I think its one that will really last.
Each Turtle Mat Lume is :
- Machine washable
- Anti-slip rubber backing
- 2-year guarantee
- Made in the EU
Overall I am very impressed with my Lume mat. A great value door mat, which offers a real design led look, that grips better than any mat I’ve used before. I think I might get one for my back door now.
