When Signomatic got in contact asking if I wanted to order something from their online sign shop, it took me a while to decide what to have made. At first I thought about having a sign for my new gin bar – Amanda’s Gin Palace sounded like a good one to go for, or maybe something for my office that was about my blog? However we really did need a new door sign, and I’d spotted some larger signs that had street names on them too, so I went for that option instead. I live on a road, which if you don’t know the area is very confusing, it feels like three separate roads rather than one, so if people are visiting, or we get anything delivered it can be a little confusing.
Examples of Signomatic door signs
When I went on the Signomatic site, they had a great selection of house signs, above is just a small selection of them. You could tackle making a sign in a number of ways. Once you have an idea of what you would like the sign to be made of (plastic, brass, acrylic or aluminium) from there you can make all of the other decision like size, typeface and colours.
Here you can see mine, which is black acrylic, white lettering and the edges rounded off :
You could just tweak one of the suggested example signs to suit your needs too. This is how I tackled ordering mine. I knew the shape and size was perfect, I just needed to change the colour and typeface. I wanted something large and striking, but simple with a bit of an Art Deco feel to it. So that’s why I went for the double lettering of the typeface you can see. I really love the result.
You can also choose how a door sign is going to be fixed/fitted to your house. So screw, standoff and hanging. I went for no fixing, as I was going to mount it on an existing fixing that our front door has anyway. It looks perfect, I’m so pleased I went for a more over sized look as I think the front door needed it. I also think the various delivery and postmen are really going to thank me! *Waves*
Overall this is a really simple was of sprucing up the front of your home. It was simple to order, and came within a week of ordering well packaged. I’m now thinking I should get myself a gin palace sign too!
