In todays collaborative post, I’m going to be looking at how the colours we choose for our home could in fact reflect out personality. Huge thanks to Julian Charles, who produced an e-book revealing how they feel about this, and so prompting me to think about my own home, and how it reflects me and my family.
I firmly believe that how you style your home does say a lot about your personality. Whether that’s the colours you go for, or the style that you choose. Anyone else think that too? I’m going to summarise some of the theories from the ebook, of what colours say about your personality below, and then look at my own home and the main colours that I have chosen and what it says about me. By the way, I am the person who chooses the colours in my home, mainly I think because its something that interests me.
Grey – reliable
Yellow – creative perfectionist
Green – Patient
Purple – Organised
Pink – Friendly
Blue – Free Spirit
Orange – Social
Black & White – Cautious
PINK
Recently I was looking at my Instagram, and I’d honestly not realised how many of my rooms have touches of pink in them. I’ve always been fond of pink, even when I was young, I find it makes me happy, puts a smile on my face, it really does! However my home really has only recently seen those pink touches, over the last few years. Maybe as I’m getting older, I’m changing, needing more pink in my life?
Pink is definitely a soft feminine colour, but loved by both men and women. My husband for example rocks a pink top! Pink in your home shows that you are a warm, friendly and approachable person, it’s very inviting and living in a home with soft pinks is very calming. I’ve actually never felt happier with the way my home looks, so what the feel of my home is giving me, is obviously working.
Julian Charles a furnishing retailer for over 70 years report :
Your love of pink also shows that you have a warm and maternal side. You’re the person everyone comes to when
they have a problem. You always see the good in other people, but not necessarily yourself. You can be reserved and shy.
I actually think this is a spot on, I am quite shy and reserved. I think of myself as being warm and inviting when I meet new people. So it’s spot on so far.
GREEN
I didn’t ever think I would decorate a home with green, it’s just not a colour I like, or am drawn too. However I am obsessed with plants, and seem to have embraced green in my home in a big way using foliage, succulents and cacti around many of the rooms. I don’t have house plants because I’m following trends, they just genuinely fill me with joy.
Julien Charles commented
…You’re a very patient, collected person. You’re a loyal friend and a very faithful partner. Other people always come first, making you completely selfless. You’re the friend everyone comes to when they need a shoulder to cry on, or someone to talk to, because you’re compassionate. You don’t stick to house trends, but are happy to buy what you like when you see it. This means your house is full of wonderful knick knacks, and mis-matching furniture.
I’m really shocked how spot on this is. So if this is something that interests you, why don’t you download the full e-book, and see if your colour choices around the home reflect your personality.
