For many, making their home the very best it can be, putting a personal stamp on it and filling it with things they love, is a passion. That said, we all need a little inspiration from time to time and this can come from a broad variety of places. It is with this in mind that here we seek to offer some tips on how to get inspiration for making over your home.
Trips Visits and Days Out
“Good artists copy; great artists steal” Pablo Picasso
While you may be well advised not to steal anything, trips, visits and days out can provide much inspiration and what better place to start than a trip to an art gallery. Here you will be surrounded by work from some of the world’s great artistic thinkers and studying the colours and form of the work can prove to be useful.
If you aren’t much of an art fan, then try a day trip to one of the interior design shows and exhibitions that are held throughout the year at some exciting venues – the Ideal Home Show being an obvious contender.
You can also glean inspiration from visiting the homes of your friends and family and so get out and get social.
Inspiration Online

Speaking of social, another fantastic way to get inspiration for making over your home is to look online. Social media platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest are awash with beautiful images of interiors, but it isn’t just social media that can provide you with inspiration online.
Visit websites like Direct Blinds and not only can you find inspiration, but you can also purchase items there and then with just a few taps of your screen. However, when you’ve had enough screen time for the day a more traditional form of research may be in order.
Lifestyle Magazines
Yes, lifestyle magazines still exist and many of the lifestyle and editorial pieces within are more than a match for the articles you will find online. Within their glossy pages, not only will you see glossy images of some of the best interiors, you’ll also get quality reviews and editorial regarding current styles and trends.
What could be better than, after a hard day’s work and play, than putting your feet up and settling down to peruse a colourful lifestyle magazine – Inspiring? Yes!
The inspiration you need to make over your home is all around you and with a little effort it all soon comes into focus.
