As wedding season is upon us, you may have been invited to a marriage celebration of a friend or family member this summer. I’ve got to say I love a wedding and I especially love figuring out what to wear and all the planning and preparation that goes along with it. When the big day arrives, it is just so lovely to share in someone’s happiness. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a wedding where I’ve not shed a tear as the happy couple say their vows. So special!
So, what happens when your children, and in this case, a baby girl are also invited to the wedding. This can take lots of planning, and a very large changing bag for the day! Yes, of course, there is also an outfit to think of for them. I would recommend that you consider a change in clothing too. Perhaps even a romper for early evening so that it makes it easier at bedtime. There are always points in the day that they may need new clothing, but even more so when you are potentially out all day and your baby could get messy or cold, and overheated.
Weather
It’s likely if the wedding is in summer that the weather will be OK, but as I live in the UK, I would say, its best to have a few backup options to add to an outfit to make it suitable for our changing climate. Think about extra layers if some of the ceremony is outside and it’s chilly, churches can also be quite cold even in the height of summer. Also consider a sun hat if you are blessed with sunshine on the day.
Style
I think it’s always nice to have something for a wedding that is a little different and feels special. However, an outfit that could be worn again for a family lunch out, for example, would be great. You don’t want to go down the style of a bridesmaid dress though, leave that to the children and ladies who have been invited for that role. Please do have a look at the designer baby girl clothes available from Strawberry Children, they have a great selection of clothing and accessories on the site and all of the images in this post are examples of those.
I love clothing and fashion, so the outfit I chose for my children when they were small was just as important to me as my own. I really did get a lot of pleasure when I was figuring out what they would wear to an event and day to day. I don’t think you can go wrong looking at sets like the pink top with bloomers pictured above. Don’t you just love bloomers on babies?
I would steer away from denim which will look too casual and look for clothing that is cotton and linen. With warmer wool for layers. Look out for a softer colour palette and light prints also look good. It might be a good idea to find out what the wedding colours are so that you don’t clash with them.
Accessories
Finally, I wanted to leave you with the idea that it’s the small accessories that usually really make an outfit, so think matching hat, socks or tights to really finish a baby’s outfit.
