The garden is a wonderful place to spend long afternoons and evenings in the summer months when the weather is good, enjoying BBQs or simply relaxing with your family.
And a beautiful garden is one of the top things that homeowners look for when purchasing a home. But if it needs a little work, you’ll find you’re spending your days looking for inspiration, either on sites such as Pinterest or in magazines. If money isn’t necessarily a worry or you want to push the boat out, there are certain luxurious additions and changes that you can make to your outdoor space that will transform it.
If you’re still unsure as to where to start, here are 10 different suggestions on how you can transform your outdoor space into a luxury retreat that all your family and friends will love.
-
Add More Interior Space with a Garden Building
If you have a spacious garden, why not add a fabulous garden building at the end of it? A popular choice for many looking for extra interior space, garden buildings can be made custom to your exact requirements. Whether you use the building as an office, a guestroom or simply like a chalet that you unwind in, it’s an opulent addition that’s guaranteed to please throughout the years.
-
Invest in a Jacuzzi
Now you might be thinking, in this country is a jacuzzi really worth it? Similar to investing in a swimming pool, you might not think that you’ll get much use out of it. But in the summer months (as well as in the winter) a jacuzzi is a wonderful thing to have in any garden. Not only can your family benefit from it, but it’s a fun feature to have when friends come over.
If you really want to be glamorous, you could even opt for a jacuzzi with changing lights and places to place drinks when you’re in it. Complement your jacuzzi with an outdoor screen that you can watch films in or a sound system.
-
Go All Out With Glamorous Garden Lighting
If you really want to add atmosphere to your garden, lighting is the way to go. From spotlights to a canopy of string lights, your garden will look welcoming no matter what the season. You can go as OTT or as simple as you want with lighting depending on your taste.
If you’re still unsure, then you can always seek the advice of a garden designer who will advise you as to which lights are suitable for your garden along with the placement.
-
Create a Custom Pergola
There’s nothing like relaxing under a pergola when the weather is nice. The ultimate addition, a pergola can be complemented with a fire pit in the middle of it and quality outdoor furniture. There are many different types of pergolas to choose from, from lavish wooden designs to metal and marble designs.
For this option, chances are that you will need an architect to design and build the pergola for you. But once it’s in place, you can plan endless afternoons and evenings socialising and unwinding under it.
-
Get Creative with a Pizza Oven
Another remarkable addition you could put in your garden is a pizza oven. This practical yet sophisticated cooking feature will certainly come in handy throughout the summer months. Your family will love the pizzas that you can cook in this, along with the BBQ food. Although you can purchase these ready-made if you really want to impress, why not have one custom-built for you?
-
Add A Water Feature
A big way that you can transform your garden is with an extravagant water feature. Whether this is a fountain, a pond with a waterfall or another type of feature, it’s bound to impress all of your guests when they visit your home. It will also add a touch of serenity to your outdoor space, making it feel like a tropical paradise.
-
Purchase High-Quality Garden Furniture
If you plan to spend lots of time in your garden, you’ll want somewhere that you can lounge. Whether you choose a daybed, a dining table and chairs or armchairs, it will make all the difference to the space. The type of garden furniture you choose, will of course, depend on your taste, the amount of space that you have and your budget. But whatever you choose, you’ll have the start to a truly breath-taking garden that everyone can enjoy.
-
Make it Cosy with an Outdoor Fireplace
Similarly to a fire pit, an outdoor fireplace is a great way to make your garden feel a lot cosier – so that you can enjoy your outdoor space for longer, whether it’s in the summer or the winter. Created using a wide range of materials, outdoor fireplaces are extraordinary and will suit any garden.
-
Invest in a Decking
Even though this is a simple change, it can make your garden look that bit more luxurious. Complemented with garden furniture, such as a dining set or daybed, a decking will completely alter the way that your garden looks and feels. Although you can opt for a simple decking design, you could go that bit further and choose a design with a pattern or that’s designed to fit perfectly in your outdoor space.
-
Add a Beautiful Path or Walkway
Although this might not initially seem like a luxurious change, it certainly can be if it’s done right. Consider opting for a path that’s aligned with pebbles, lights, or even a water feature – this will make it feel like a luxury resort and not your traditional back garden. If you opt for a pond, you could also add in a picturesque bridge.

Great ideas, our garden is so boring! It’s mainly tarmac as our house was once a residential business but it would be lovely with more greenery and some decking!

I wish I was better at it! Our current garden is really boggy, north-facing and a constant battle. When its all comes together though, it’s so satisfying!

I actually work outdoors in gardens treating lawns and you get to see a lot of things and ideas.. really handy!
I’d recommend some sort of new patio or pattern imprinted concrete either as a pathway, full patio or for specific sections. Under a water feature would be simply brilliant! Strategically placed lights can work wonders.
Go and work on creating a beautiful lawn with stripes.
Put the stripes going away from the house – it helps elongate the lawn. Use a roller
Use a feed and weed to Green it up and kill weeds
Lightly scarify if the lawn is Brown and patchy.
Mow regular and not too short – in time it will thicken up
🙂
