With everything that has happened this year so far, plans for travelling abroad have turned into a fantasy. Not to fear though, there are plenty of amazing places in the UK to take your family. Here are five great destinations to include in your itinerary:
Yorkshire
Yorkshire got the official title of being Europe’s Leading Destination within the UK during the World Travel Awards and rightfully so because of its scenic landscapes and family-friendly attractions. There is the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge wherein, you and your family walk around the Yorkshire peaks from any of its three starting points while enjoying the scenic spots away from the bustling city.
When in Yorkshire, visit the seaside town of Scarborough. Aside from water sports, you can also enjoy donkey rides and arcades. Add to that the vast array of delicious foods like ice cream and fish and chips, you’re bound to have a great time. While in Scarborough, be sure to visit the Peasholm park, a Japanese-themed garden that’s located next to Scarborough’s sandy beaches.
Cornwall
If you plan a family vacation filled with activities that are both great for you and your partner as well as the kids, consider going to the harbour town of Looe in Cornwall. Your family can also take a boat trip to Looe Island, a nature reserve, and visit the Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary, and other natural attractions. You can even take your family on a Cornish camping adventure together because of the great weather and beautiful scenery.
Looe has beaches where the little ones could play with the bucket and spade, or you and your beloved enjoy a stroll on the beautiful coastline on the South West Coast Path.
Devon
If you’re looking for that classic, seaside holiday vacation, you can take your family to the Goodrington Sands in Paignton. You can even take your family dog with you but keep in mind the anti-dog fouling policy at certain times.
Other activities you and your family can enjoy is a trip to The Palace Theatre, sightseeing in the Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, or a relaxing nature walk on the wheel-chair friendly path from Roundham Head to the South West Coast Path.
Scotland
If you’re aiming for a holiday destination with clear, blue skies, breath-taking landscapes, and seascapes, excellent food as well as kind people, then consider taking your family to the Scottish Highlands. You and your family can go through the largest National Park in Britain, tread along Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest peak. Aside from that, you can also experience what it is like to live in a castle by renting it out in Ayrshire. There is no reason why you and your family can’t live like kings, for a weekend at least.
Oxfordshire
A county located in southeast England, Oxfordshire offers picturesque and historical sceneries. Plan family picnics at Oxford’s Botanic Garden in Oxford or visit a vineyard and sample the wine and beer in its very own brewery in Henley-on-Thames. In Oxfordshire, you can even take your family on a narrowboat and glide around the canals and visit places like the River & Rowing Museum.
When planning for a family holiday, it is best to have an idea of the destination and the activities that everyone could do so you can have the needed quality time and relaxation with your family, hopefully the rest of the year looks brighter than the start of it.
