When it comes to going on holiday, it can sometime be difficult to know what to pack in your suitcase. Many holidaygoers fear that they will either pack too much or not pack enough and regret not bringing enough with them.
Packing can sometimes distract you from the excitement that you feel on the lead up to your holiday, leaving your feeling stressed and tired. Although this should definitely not be the case. If you are going away this summer and are worried about forgetting essential items, or just want a checklist, here is everything you will need for your summer holiday.
Clothing, Swimwear and Accessories
Although this may be obvious, the first thing that you will need to pack in your suitcase for your summer holiday is your clothing. The amount of clothing that you will bring with you will greatly depend on how long you are going on holiday for. For example, if you are going abroad for a week you need to make sure that you have enough clothing to last for those 7 days. When packing your clothing you also need to think about the location that you are going to and the activities that you will be doing while you are there.
A great place to start when it comes to packing for your summer holiday is with the basics. This will include shorts or skirts, light t-shirts, underwear, pyjamas, and swimwear.
If you are going on a week-long holiday, it may be worth packing a few pieces of swimwear so that you’re not always waiting on it to dry. Before jetting off, why not treat yourself to a new swimsuit or bikini if you only have the one dated item sitting in your drawers? You can get some inspiration over at Moontide swimwear who has some lovely pieces that are perfect for going on holiday and won’t take up too much room in your suitcase. If you’re getting extra, try to opt for a different style/colour to mix up your daily look.
You should also pack clothing for all the activities that you are going to do while on holiday, such as going out for dinner in the evenings or going for a hike. Finally, remember to pack any accessories, such as sunglasses, jewellery, a belt, and hats that you might want to bring with you. You also can’t forget to pack shoes, such as flip flops, sandals, and evening shoes!
Toiletries
Once you have packed all of your clothing, accessories, and shoes, it is now time for you to pack your toiletries. This will include any skin, hair, or hygiene products that you know you will need while you are aware. In your toiletry bag you should pack shampoo, conditioner and hair products, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss, as well as deodorant and body moisturiser. You could also pack any makeup that you may want to bring with you and cleansing wipes or makeup remover to take your makeup off with.
Another few items that you should include in your toiletry bag include shower gel, perfume or aftershave and a hairbrush. Most importantly, don’t forget to pack sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun (and some after sun or aloe vera if your skin gets sunburnt). Toiletries can often take up a lot of room in your suitcase and many of the products that have previously been mentioned can be quite bulky and heavy. To free up space in your suitcase and to make it less heavy, you should consider bringing miniature versions of all of your products. You could also wait until you’re at the airport to buy these, but be wary that the prices will be higher.
Essential Items
Now that you have got all of your clothing and toiletries packed, it is now time for you to gather all of your essential items that you may require when you are away on holiday. These essential items may include any medication that you have to take, your glasses or contact lenses, and even plasters or a first aid kit just in case.
You should also pack any chargers or adapters that you may need for your devices if you plan on bringing them with you, such as your mobile phone, laptop, or tablet. Depending on what country you are visiting, you will likely need a specific adapter for the plugs.
The most important thing that you must not forget to pack is your passport and travel documents. If you arrive to the airport without your passport, boarding pass, and travel insurance documents, you may be denied access onto the flight. So, you need to make sure that you pack them in the bag that you plan on bringing onto the flight with you.
In this bag you could also pack anything that you feel you will need while on the flight. These items could include a book or a magazine, a pair of headphones to listen to music with, and even a sleeping mask, travel pillow and some earplugs if you are catching a long flight and are planning on sleeping.
Hopefully from this guide you are now aware of what you will need to bring with you for your summer holiday. Packing all of these items into your suitcase or carry-on luggage will ensure that you have everything you need to enjoy your time away in the sun.
This has got me so excited to go on holiday!
