Well, up until now the weather has been windy but sunny…so we have been out and enjoying the countryside and beaches in Devon and Dorset. As today was going to be wet and chilly we headed off into Exeter to the Make Art studio, which promised coffee and cake as well lots of different craft activities.
Miss N and I had had a look at the website before hand, and really loved the look of the Decopatch. We chose two items each to decorate with patterned tissue papers by decopatch. Then we were given demonstration, on the Giraffe called ‘Artie’ that you can see on the photographs, and we were ready to go.
Miss A decided she wanted to have a go at painting a canvas. She also painted herself, Tall Dad and I think the table, sorry Make Art! She was given a plate of lots of different colours, sponges and paintbrushes, and she happily painted away.
So here is Miss A and I working away, note my burnt neck and chest OUCH!
A close up of Miss A at work, I think she’s doing the sides at this point, and pouting in concentration!
Miss N concentrating, I have not used the one with her tongue out hehe!
A canvas by Miss A, which we will hang on her bedroom wall at home……can you tell what it is yet, said in my best Rolf Harris voice!
The next two photographs, I have made larger so you can see the detail better.
A letter N, very appropriately by Miss N in her favourite colours blue and pink, and a pig for her sister, Miss A’s favourite animal.
I opted to do a lady and a man symbol, which I am going to stick on our downstairs loo door!
We had such a great couple of hours, and we all recommend The Make Art studio! I have been to pottery painting tea shops before, but never to one that offers such a huge range of things to do. Miss N and I could have quite happily made things all day and not been bored!
I have linked up to the White Lily Green blog and Handmade Thursday

They look amazing! I am only jealous that I was not there to join in the fun. Can I just borrow N and A for a few days and send you down to Plymouth in my place? Tell N that blue and pink (and purple) were my favourite colours when I was her age. Everything in my room had to be one of those three colours, and I wrote my diary in those colour pens too (alternating). N is a girl after my own heart and her N is stunning. As for A’s painting, I’m sure she will explain the deep and symbolic meaning of it to you one day – just look at the concentration on her face. Looks like you all had fun! (sorry for writing an essay here!)
