Not sure where to start on this post…I can’t think of anything witty or apt….how about this?
The 31st of August is our (Tall Dad and I) 10th Wedding Anniversary and I planned a surprise night out, for a meal at Carluccios in town. The bus was full as the one before had broken down. Full of a mix of young and old, we got on and sat in a the seat that can ‘just’ accommodate Tall Dad knees..within a minute the bus stopped again to let on more people. There was a delay and so we both raised our heads from our conversation. A man, he had an accent and spoke in broken English waved a £20 note in the air ‘can anyone give me change’
There was silence…
Not one of the people on the bus made any move to look for change, or offer help.
I felt Tall Dad shift in his seat as he rose to give the man his fair to get into town. Impressing upon him he had no need to give it him back. He then explained it was 10p short somehow motioned to the bus driver that this would be OK, who then sagely nodded.
The man then sat in front of and impressed his thanks.
we continued our journey….
We have had, like most couples our ups and down…there have been times when I thought, well you know how that goes.
But through everything Tall Dad…the gentleman and the…. gentle man will always be the one.
