I know I’m late to the party on this one, but in the spirit of blogging things that my family or I love, here is my Glossy Box Review.
Firstly it was very easy to set up, and you can cancel at any time. I think this is unusual for something such as this, and definitely added to my confidence in setting up the subscription. It is a shame that even though they ask for details of your skin type etc. the box is not tailored to your individual skin and hair types. I hope this is something that they look at soon, as I would imagine this would mean even more products become available to the company for us to sample.
Well it arrived today, and firstly I was impressed with the packaging. Beautifully tied up in ribbon and tissue paper. It really gives a good impression of what products are going to be in the box.
I have now used all of the products, and here is my take on them:
Como Shabhala, Invigorate Shower Gel:
This is a shower gel that is supposed have a revitalising blend of essential oils, to put you in an uplifted mood. Not sure about the mood, but it felt luxurious and the lather really thick. I didn’t think it particularly smelled very strong, which is what I would prefer.
Awapuhi: Paul Mitchell – Wild Ginger Treatment Oil
I was really interested in testing this, as not only has it won an award (Allure Best of Beauty 2011) but I have coloured and frizzy hair, that requires a lot of taming.
One thing I would say is you don’t need much, it very powerful, but lightweight. It smells absolutely gorgeous. It worked on my hair which is always parched on the ends. I was really impressed with this one, and it made styling easy.
Dr Bronner: Lavender Hand Sanitiser
A handbag size, which is handy. I always have one in my bag when I go out. I did think that it was a strange thing to include, where was the link to beauty? However, I really like the product and if it wasn’t in this box, I would never have tried it. Now if I saw it I would buy it!
BM Beauty: Pure Mineral Eyeshadow
I really loved the quality of this eyeshadow, it did build up colour well. I loved that it was also approved by the BUAV, which is fantastic!
I have not tried to add water to it yet, as is suggested and I’m not sure I would. My issue with it is the colour, it’s pink! I think if it was used as a liner you would look like you had sore eyes. Not a good look!
However as a loose shadow, I combined it with a mid brown colour on my lid, and I thought it would be perfect as something to wear on holiday, when you just want a little colour. It has an almost a two-tone effect. For my pale skin though it needed the brown, to stop me looking like I had been crying all day.
Becca: Beach Tint in Watermelon
This is definitely my favourite of all the products. I have tried it on my cheeks and it gives a natural glow, and blended really easily. I am just a little bit obsessed with blusher and cheek stains, and this is fab! I love the colour as a lip stain too. It lasted pretty well, I had to reapply after a couple of hours. I however thought it dried matt, too matt. So when I re-applied, I tried it with a little clear gloss on top and it was perfect!
So overall, whether the products were for me or not. I loved trying them all out. I think its fantastic value for money at £10 and I can’t wait to get the next one. Can I suggest one every fortnight maybe?
Thank you for reading

Is it? I thought they would be pretty much the same for everyone. It is interesting that they can be so different. Can’t wait for next months mystery box….exciting!

My box was the exact same as yours! I was quite worried at first as mine arrived a while after most people had gotten theirs, and the reviews I’d read weren’t good at all.
I think we were pretty lucky though, the Becca tint is the full size product and is worth £20 on its own!

I’d only signed up a couple of days before they released this box, so was surprised I got it so quickly. Love the becca tint, I agree, it’s worth it for that alone!!

So pleased to hear you got lovely things in your GlossyBox this month. I tried the December one and was pretty impressed, but decided I couldn’t really justify an ongoing subscription.
I like lip and cheek tints too. Cha Cha Tint from Benefit is my current fave 🙂
