We are all a bit crazy at The Ana Mum Diary house, for Everything Oz. I’ve posted before about Miss N, and her role as Glinda in The Wizard of Oz. So when I was asked if I would like to review a copy of the second, in the ‘Everything’ series (The first being Everything Alice) I jumped at the chance. The RRP is 14.99 but currently you can pre-order your own copy on Amazon for £10.99.
It is full of the most gorgeous and eye-popping colours, photographs and typography. I took these photographs of the book outside, to try to make the most of them, on my very own yellow brick road! I honestly didn’t use any filters the overall effect just jumps up and grabs you!
I love the interpretations the authors Christine Leech and Hannah Read-Baldrey have made taking the Classic tale of L. Frank Baum and using the ideas to captivate crafty types like me. There are so many activities to get your teeth into including metal work, embellishing, baking and patchwork and many more.
I decided to be fair and let everyone choose one of their favourite makes or bakes in the book. Tall Dad and I both loved the Emerald City section. With me going for Baums buttons and Tall Dad the Pistachio Popcorn, perfect for re-watching the classic movie.
Miss N (9) and Miss A (3) have decided they would love to have an Everything Oz inspired party, and there are so many perfect party ideas in this book. Miss A who is obsessed with teetering around in my shoes would love to have a pair of these Ruby red slippers. She really would look like a cute Dorothy wearing them. Miss N thinks the squashed witch cupcakes are a must for any party.
Overall we would all highly recommend this fantastic book. It’s has projects for all levels of crafters. You really do feel like you are taking a journey of 50 makes and bakes through the magical land that is Oz. But beware of those pesky flying monkeys!
….slip on a pair of Ruby Slippers a walk to the shops to buy this book, because, because, because, because, because – of the wonderful things it does!
