You know that feeling, the one where you look at your watch and its 9.30 in the morning, the whole day stretched ahead of you before school pick time …..and then you pause, you take a breath and check your watch again and it’s…. blimey where did the time go? Have I dozed off and missed a couple of hours?
Well that’s exactly how I’m feeling at the moment, every day. Worst of all I’m 40, where did that time go? I still feel young, not a teenager, or even like I’m in my twenties, but I definitely feel like a newly married mum, of say 30. Maybe I should have started this whole family thing earlier, maybe that’s where the problem lies.
I can’t even put my finger on any actual changes, is it just that I’m getting older. Does time truly speed up as you age?
One thing that I have been thinking about, and in fact Tall Dad (my Hubby) and I talked about it only last night.
Deep breath….
Living for the moment (not something I am very good at) would this help make time go slower? By relishing what you have, and what you can do with your life. I swear, a few weeks of sunshine will help slow things down, warm long sunny days, and balmy nights.
So my question to you is, do you think life is zipping by? What can we do so we can slow this sucker down, because quite frankly I need to catch my breath.
Thank you for reading
Don’t blink. That helps. #noscientificproof
Hahaha that made me chuckle 🙂
Eating chocolate helps*
I know this feeling only too well. Daughter starting school in September is not helping – like where the hell did those 4 1/2 years go??!!
*this may not be true
Liz you wait, it amazing how quickly the school day goes…and how the hell do I have a (nearly) 10 yr old…she’s only a baby surely 😉
Amanda, I can relate SOOO much with your post! The only change that I am observing is that since I started enjoying, taking pleasure in everything I do, I dont want the time to stop! I want it to run even faster, that will make me enjoy it more…!
Thank you! Feel better to be honest since I wrote the post!
You just wait! My eldest son is seventeen in a couple of months which means he will be driving and starting to think about university and my god that scares the life out of me. As for daily time, I know exactly what you mean, I have so many plans and projects but no time to put them into action. It does frustrate me but I guess we are living our lives!
I think that’s it too Nikki. I have thing I really want to do, but don’t seem to have the time, so frustrating!
My ‘baby’ will be 4 in a month! But I don’t mind too much as I have a lot more fun spending time with him now than I did when he actually was a baby.
The lack of sunshine so far this ‘summer’ has added to the sense that this year is disappearing before we’ve really had chance to enjoy it. Fingers crossed that we get some nice weather soon! 🙂
Oh I get that to, as they get older it become easier in a lot of ways!
The other day we looked at the girls and commented on how big they now seem to be. When did that happen? I think everyone feels like that about the children but I’d like to know who to slow this rollercoaster called life down! If anyone has the magic answer I’m all ears 🙂
Although I’m only 28 I feel like life is rushing away, I’m what I refer to as an inbetweener – no, not a yucky inappropriate teenage boy (TV Programme) but a woman who’s friends are spilt into two groups; single and living it up and married and covered in baby goo!
Don’t get me wrong I love babies, have a long term boyfriend who I think I’ll marry and have a few mini (Lady)GoGo’s with but at the moment I’m so into my writing, hobbies, clubbing, cooking etc that I cannot imagine life with responsibility, The percentage of non parental friends in getting smaller by the day, in fact just this week, three of my friends announced they’re expecting early next year…..
When did our lives go from wine, crushes and road trips to motgages, baby showers and christenings!
I’ll grow old but I’m having trouble with the growing up bit!
