Yesterday afternoon, we attended Mickey’s Magic Show, at Capital FM arena. We have attended Disney On Ice shows at the Arena and have always been impressed, so we were intrigued to see this show. We had also been invited as guests of Disney, which I must admit I was secretly really excited by. My friends, family and readers of the The Ana Mum Diary blog will know how much we LOVE Disney.
We arrived in good time, Miss A dashed out of school, even got changed in the back of the car as we didn’t want to miss a moment!
Miss N aged 9 and Miss A aged 3
The Arena is cut in half by the stage, so even if you are sitting in the top section (I checked this) you still have a fantastic view of the stage.
Mickey and Minnie, together with a host of their friends then perform a fantastic magic show. But the clever thing is, they bring together the magic of the Disney films that we all know and love and perform the magic in them, right before your eyes.
For example, ‘The Sorcerers Apprentice’ broomstick scene, with the added bonus of Mickey levitating Minnie Mouse!
Cinderella’s transformation by the Fairy Godmother
There was a comedic theme throughout the show. The children were really engaged and felt part of it. Miss A and N were heard shouting ABRACADABRA along with all of the other children, and even some of the adults. 😉 Definitely aimed at under 10 year olds, it also has interactive elements with members of the audience coming up on stage to help Brad and Benny (the real life magicians) with magic tricks too.
Things to note :
- You can not take photographs or record the show.
- Remember to bring extra money for programmes and souvenirs.
- There is an intermission (great for the little ones to stretch their legs and nip to the toilet)
- If you are parking at Stoney Street car park (Nottingham shows only) parking is expensive at £9.50
Disclaimer: We were given 4 free tickets to review the show. My thoughts expressed in this post though are not influenced by this.

It was lovely to see you all! My favourite bit was the Fantasia bit, it was my mum’s favourite film. Can’t believe how many characters they packed in, I was just expecting Mickey and Minnie!

I loved that there were so many characters too. Miss A is still talking about it!

I love anything like this. I love Disney, I love silly shows… I wish I’d gone! I think the next time they do something like this, I’ll get tickets for my mum and I. Who says you can’t have just as much fun at 23 and 47 as you did when you were little?
