I promised last week to update the blog with a little more information about Forest Holidays, which offer year round holidays and short breaks in various locations throughout the UK. These locations include Scotland, North Yorkshire, Heart of England and Cornwall.
I visited the Sherwood Forest location, taking in the surround forest as well as seeing examples of a cabin, the main reception, on site shop and café.
We had such an amazing time attending one of the activities set up by Forest Holidays, you can read about it HERE. Sita Brahmachari, was the ‘Author in Residence’ staying with her family and also working on her exciting third novel. Her time at Sherwood Forest Pines has definitely shaped this new novel, and Miss N and I cant wait to read it once it is published.

The Sherwood Forest cabins are set amongst 3,300 acres of Sherwood Pines forest. As you approach them you have a feeling that other cabins are well spaced but close enough not to feel too remote of one another. They are set in the largest woodland area in Sherwood Forest. The attention to detail of the cabins is evident, with the way in which the paneling is made to echo the surrounding trees. They also employ local craftsman when they build new cabins, making sure they are giving back to the local economy.
They are ideal in my opinion for a romantic retreat, or as a base to explore the surrounding area. For families there are extra activities such as going out with a Forest Ranger and Archery. See THIS link for full list. It is also close enough to visit various family friendly places in the area, or the even the famous Major Oak close by.
Once you are inside the cabins, they really are spacious and have everything that you would want for a holiday. I personally would love to spend a few days here with my family, or with a group of us near Christmas time. I can just imagine sharing the time with family and friends in front of a roaring fire and dipping in and out of the hot tub….bliss!
There is an air of relaxation and luxury as you have the option to order prebook wine and food for your cabin. Fancy a pizza? Give them a call and they will have one delivered to your cabin!
If you are just looking at getting back to nature, the children are actively encouraged to build dens and there are examples of this around the forest.
The biggest test was that my daughter Miss N (nearly 10) came with me on the tour, and she is still pleading with me to book a holiday here. The staff and customers chatted with ease, and It genuinely felt like old family and friends, I was incredibly impressed.
Thank you for reading
