I love interiors, and even dabble in a little gardening, so when I was kindly invited to the Ideal Home Show at Earls Court by Hillarys Blinds, I just knew I had to say yes.
I am a huge fan of Hillarys, they have supplied and fitted the majority of my blinds at home. The service is exceptional, and I love that they have a fantastic range, that is modern and follows interior trends, as well as offering traditional tailor-made service that you can trust.
Myself, Jen and Penny spent all day browsing the two main levels of the Ideal Home Show (IHS) now I am looking back at all of the photographs, I can’t actually believe how much we fitted into our day, I’m not even sure a day there is long enough!
The highlight of our day for me was meeting the Hillarys team, and visiting the stand. It was impossible to miss with the giant lampshade that was above it. We chatted with Susan (head of Hillarys online) about trends, colours and new products. There was an extensive display of wooden shutters, which are incredibly popular we were told. I must admit, I am a huge fan of them too. I was also very impressed with the different types of conservatory blinds available. The trends that were included on the stand were coastal, retro, global and floral. The variety of colours and design that Hillarys made to measure blinds and curtains, offer is quite incredible, the stand provided a great insight to this.
There were also two homes to explore at the show too, fully kitted out and ready to move into. I loved the look of the eco home, especially the kitchen, so bright and light. The Smeg powder blue appliances were really perfect for the space.
As well as the houses, there was also fun to had. Here is Jen and I re-enacting the famous chandelier scene, from Only Fools and Horses.
Next stop would you believe was teeth whitening…
We were offered teeth whitening at a discounted price at the event, so all three of us decided we would give it a bash. I took before and after shots so that we could see the difference.
They were taken in the same place, using the same backdrop, so they are hopefully a true reflection of the changes. I loved mine, I have had this treatment once before, but a different method (bleach) was used. Previously it did come up whiter, my lower teeth still have some discolouration, but my teeth were very sensitive afterwards. This treatment is much less harsh, and I have had none of the sensitivity that I experienced before.
I was really impressed that there were so many electrical appliances on display at the show too, unusual items, top of the range, and budget were included. Great if you are looking for ideas, when moving to a new home, or planning home improvements. My favourite being the Smeg stand, colour really was the order of the day.
There really is lots to see and do at the Ideal Home show, there are TV personalities, and experts, room set ups, to tempt you and give you interior decoration ideas. I loved seeing how the organisers had pulled together the room looks. There were a few colour combination that were very inspirational. I was disappointed by the lack of accessories, soft furnishings to purchase. There were lots of stalls, but they weren’t really my taste, which was a shame, as I didn’t feel they reflected the overall feel of the IHS.
To polish the day off we also visited the Benefit Make-up team, and each had a make-up overhaul. As regular readers of my blog will know, I am a bit of a beauty junkie, always on the look out for new products to try. Just in case Tall Dad is reading I bought nothing….NOTHING I tell you 😉
Oh so soon, it was time to depart, having had a truly splendid day.
Disclaimer: thanks to Hillarys and the PR team, for providing me with the ticket, lunch and train fare to get to the show, we had a blast!
If you enjoy my posts and would like to vote for me in the LIFESTYLE category, I would really appreciate it. I may even buy you cake! 😉

What a fabulous round up of the day Amanda, I love all the collages, there really was so much to see. I was as you know not sure what to expect, especially from Hillarys, but I was really impressed by how funky and on trend the prints were – and really well made, can see why you like them!
