I think this is fourth time I have reviewed a pair of shoes, on The Ana Mum Diary.  I’m not sure what it is about shoes, but they seem to transport me off to a imaginary place.  I always dream (or hope) them to be magical.  When I reviewed these however, I decided to take take the next step, and make my imaginings a reality.

Chatham Shoes are established (over 20 years) and well known for offering marine clothing and footwear.  Unfortunately we don’t own a boat, so I decided to road test my shoes and our National Water Sports Centre near my home.

A gorgeous step-in boat shoe with ultra soft premium washable nubuck leather. Butted apron seams, with a delicate cotton lace detail for a casual flair. I tested them by doing some power walking around the whole of the 5km perimeter of the lake. Are they really as comfortable as they are claimed to be?

You can just see me in the very distance, as my two daughters wait for me to finish.

Well comfort factor, has to be a 10 out of 10.  The cushioning of the shoe is fantastic.  This was the first time I had worn the shoes, and yet after 5 km, they didn’t rub at all.  They gripped the floor well, and did not slip off my feet.  Perfect!  I need a shoe with some arch support, and these had a great gently support in, so my feet didn’t ache afterwards.

Next up Style :

I love the classic loafer style of these shoes, I think they will a great addition to my summer wardrobe.  They do come in various other colours including pink and stone.  I think they would look great with a casual maxi dress, jeans or linen trousers, as I have worn them here.

 

 

Whilst I wearing them, over the past few days I did get caught in a shower, and this didn’t seem to affect the look of the shoes at all. I hadn’t treated them, and usually with nubuck you would have been able to see marks if they got wet.

Overall I am extremely impressed with the shoes, I usually have to break shoes in for days before I can actually wear them, these were super soft, but still gave me the support I needed.  I can’t believe I actually wore them straight away and walked such a distance!  I also love the styling of them, and the fact they go with the nautical trend which is always one of my favourites to adopt in spring.

Chatham is a great site to purchase items from, whether you are lucky enough to have a boat or not!
