Last Sunday started off, just like any other Sunday. Breakfast, walking the puppy, finishing homework, washing and ironing, wrapping gifts for a party we were going to attend later. The hustle and bustle of family life.
Then I received a phone call. Matthew Hussey – author of New York Times best seller ‘Get The Guy‘ and the worlds leading relationship coach, here he was on the phone to me. I deftly ushered everyone into the living room, turned on the TV, handed out snacks, and hid upstairs to take the phone call. I was fascinated to hear what he was going to tell me. Well, in a phone call, that felt like I was chatting to a knowledgeable friend, I was given lots of hints and tips for what Matthew thinks makes the perfect date night.
Now let me just emphasise here, Tall Dad and I have been married for 12 years, I honestly can’t remember the last tome we had a date night, that’s a little sad isn’t it? Well unless you count the time we went for a rebellious coffee, during the day when both the girls were at school? We just don’t seem to make the time for each other, around all of the other things that we do, life just gets in the way. We sometimes go out with other couples, or again with other people to gig’s, but it’s so rare we go out alone, and even in the evening at home, we can be both doing very different things.
So what are we going to do about it? Well with the help of Head and Shoulders who arranged the confidence coaching, they are also going to help me arrange a night out or in. So Tall Dad and I can spend some time together. I’m not sure how I feel about the phrase date night, but you get the general idea. I am armed with all of Matthews hints and tips, and I genuinely enjoyed our chat and got a lot from it. I have a plan of action, and a little homework to do too.
Here is the little pamper pack that Head and Shoulders sent me. That’s at least one section of my perfect date night sorted, the one about feeling good in my own skin.
So I’m off to do some more research, once I’m back from my trip I think everything should be in place. Wish me luck!

I am also pondering what constitutes a date night. Certainly not what it used to before kids!
