What’s a Cricut Mini I hear you say… well, it’s very clever machine, that looks a little like a small printer. It cuts shapes, and wording out of card, material even icing. The version I am reviewing(the mini) needs to be hooked up to your computer, and the internet. You are sent the machine, cables and information on how to get started. Even access to the Cricut Craft Room. The instructions to do this are really simple, but comprehensive.
The one thing I hadn’t realised, was that you only have access to very basic font and shapes. You need to purchase other cartridges from places such as Hobbycraft or if online, Amazon. They are priced from £10 +, the actual machine is approximately £100. So you will need to pay more than the initial outlay.
After my success with the numbers of the advent calendar I made using the Cricut Mini, I decided to have a go at making a simple homemade Christmas card. I wanted it to be easy, and not fussy at all, as this is only my second bash at it.
Here are the steps you need to follow :
Once I had cut ‘Merry Christmas’ out of my plain card (I bought a pack of 50 from Hobbycraft for 4.99) I then added washi tape to the inside of the card, so that once the person opened the envelope it looked more striking.
I then folded the card, along the pre crease.
It is as simple as that! A homemade Christmas card, from me.
What do you think?
I’m off now to have a play at creating something a little more complicated, now I’m confident it really is as easy as it looks.

We tried the Cricut Mini and it just tore the paper as it cut, was not good at all – yours looks very pretty x
