I love a challenge, and when Laura Ashley asked me if I would like to be involved in a creative campaign, where 15 bloggers all get given one Laura Ashley blanket, and have to think of something different to use it for, I absolutely said yes!
So what was I going to use it for? I mused with my friend Jen, from Love Chic Living, of creating a romantic photograph in the sunset, with the blanket around my shoulders to keep me warm, whilst drinking a cup of hot chocolate outside. I loved the idea of this, but just couldn’t get the photograph right, so I went back to the drawing board, but all of my ideas just didn’t seem to cut it. It was then that it hit me, how about a little makeover of my dining table :
It looks very plain, maybe a little harsh (and shiny) and in complete need of a little livening up hey?
I used the blanket to dress the dining table in my kitchen, as a table cloth….voilà!
A romantic table set for two people. I love the rustic look that it has given the table. It give a real soft wintry feel I think. I especially love the colour against the oak and granite.
To enhance the softness and rustic look, I folded back one corner of the blanket to show off the fringing.
Adding lots of blue and white crockery and vintage glass to finish of the look. Perfect for Tall Dad and I, to enjoy a romantic meal together this Christmas. It would be even more romantic if Tall Dad cooked – could I hint any heavier?
So what do you think to my use of a blanket? I can’t wait to see what creative uses the other bloggers have come up with. Thank goodness I didn’t go with one of my other options which was a hammock for the dog, I can just see that would have ended in disaster.
So how did the other bloggers get on? Well by following this Laura Ashley link and you can see the summary ‘Go with the throw’ that Laura Ashley wrote, including my own tablecloth idea. I am loving the curtains that someone made, what a great idea!
