With this guest post, I am simply yearning for warmer weather. Sunshine where are you?
With warmer weather on the way, those who stay current with the latest fashion trends are already looking toward spring and summer styles. Indeed, fashion catalogues and websites—and even store windows in malls—begin promoting warm-weather styles very early in the year. 2014 is no different!
For anyone who enjoys this sort of thing, it’s always fun to set about choosing spring and summer outfits while updating wardrobes. To a great extent, the right collection of clothing and accessories can fully display your sense of fashion. However, there are also certain things you can do outside of simply buying new clothing to set yourself up to rock the year’s hottest styles. Here are three tips for how to make the spring and summer styles easier to wear.
1. Get In Shape Now
This is always easier said than done, but that doesn’t mean it’s a tip that should be ignored. Nor should you assume it’s too late to get in shape for the spring! Sure, you might not get all the way to whatever goals you set for yourself in a month or two, but progress is progress, and getting in better shape can help with your style efforts as well. We’re not just talking about fitting into trendy new bathing suits, either. The fact is, a lot of us don’t really like buying new clothes when we feel like we could stand to lose a few pounds or tone up. Getting in better shape can have you feeling confident and enthusiastic about your seasonal clothing purchases.
There’s fitness advice all over the Internet with some of it geared specifically toward different routines. Shape published a handy guide that is worth taking another look at this year as it features informative general tips that you can use toward quickly improving your fitness routine. For one, they say you should use jump rope as a quick calorie burner and metabolism boost.
2. Browse Tips, Not Collections
Heading into any new season, you’ll find seemingly endless magazine headlines and article titles boasting the hottest new spring collections. And of course, in bolstering your wardrobe for the spring, you’ll eventually want to take advantage of some of these and buy some new clothes! But when you actually read into some of the articles and publications on seasonal fashion, you’ll find more general tips, rather than simply advertisements.
The Marks and Spencer site has a nice example for the coming spring with its featured tips on wearing dresses with sleeves (a popular fashion for the season to come). The tips contain ideas on fabrics, colours, and really entire outfits that can be beneficial to you in planning your spring wardrobe. And, luckily, that goes for whether or not you purchase any of the specific pieces listed.
3. Scour Your Existing Wardrobe
Before you catch wind of a certain appealing trend and rush out to the nearest mall or log onto Amazon to order clothes, look through your existing wardrobe! Fashion gets recycled pretty frequently, and you may be able to find clothes you haven’t worn in a while that are very stylish again this season.
You can also look through Glamour’s “most wearable trends” for the spring season. Chances are you’ll find a few items you already have at your disposal, from bomber jackets and light fabric trousers, to button down tops with contrasting collars.
For the most part, we all handle our fashion efforts differently and according to personal interest and preference, but these basic ideas can simplify your efforts. Also, on occasion, they even save you a bit of money heading into the new season.
