This is a makeover that I have been planning for months. Our bedroom hasn’t changed since we first moved in over 7 years ago. I love my bedroom, I really do. Yes I wish it was bigger and its needs painting and decorating desperately, but the furniture is great quality and I love the classic look of it. I have two built-in double wardrobes so there is lots of storage, and a tall boy drawer unit. It really does need some life injecting into it though. So this month I am working with B&Q to do just that.
The first thing I need to do, is get rid of the canvas behind the bed, I really don’t like it any more, I’m thinking as well as wallpaper the wall needs another feature, a mirror perhaps? It’s very plain and simple currently, with off white walls and bedding. I have accented with different gold tones.
I definitely need to de clutter my bedside table too, I have a slight addiction to perfume! Perhaps go for a different lamp, as they room can be dark? We also need a new mattress, as the one we have, has seen better days. Both myself and Tall Dad my husband suffer with bad backs, so this bit is important.
I love the warmth in the wood, but feel like I need to had some contrast and pattern in room.
The blackout roman blind, I think will be staying though, as it was custom-made. I’m a little unsure whether this will work with the scheme I choose though, but hopefully the mood-board I make will help with that.
I have a couple of idea of ways to display and store my necklaces too.
The wardrobe doors definitely need painting, perhaps new door handles?
I would love to have a proper light fitting in the room too, rather than a shade.
Finally what I really need to do, is make the bedroom look more together, with accessories. I’d love to add some photographs, and other accessories to tie the look in together.
So that is my plan in brief, and how my bedroom looks now. My next post will include a mood board, and my choices for the room. I am really looking forward to this project and working together with B&Q.

Looks lovely already! But I look forward to seeing your mood board and seeing what you decide to do. Your wooden furniture is lovely, and your blind, so you have a great base. Good luck with the project! x

How exciting, I love a makeover! Any ideas for colours yet?
Amanda Cottingham says
I’m finding it tricky as I want to still keep my blind. I like the idea of yellow and/or turquoise. Going shopping today for inspiration 🙂
