Well, last week I really did get wowed by a brand, one that I already know, use and love. It was B&Q!
B&Q I think is synonymous with DIY. They sell everything you need from screws right up to summer houses, kitchens and bathroom, plants, small and large appliances. This year though, as we walked around an event showcasing their spring and summer ranges, it left me buzzing with ideas and amazed at the stylish furniture, and accessories on offer for 2014.
There were 4 main collections, Contemporary, Heritage, Multicolour and my favourite Authentic you can see below.
‘Inspired by coastal living, baltic summer brings the seaside inside’
I loved the white, denim blues and pops of red, and the different textures. A nod to the nautical, but with a real modern twist. The sofa and chair set, worked brilliantly with the scheme, I loved them.
The furniture as a whole though, I was absolutely blown away by.
The outside furniture was exceptional quality. I think they would also work brilliantly in a conservatory or garden room. The above set was my favourite, made in teak with a rattan effect woven seats, so it could be left outside. I think this year, I will be investing in some of the B & Q range, very comfortable, but importantly also with a modern design.
Also some interesting solar lighting for the outside, set to be at a very affordable price tag too. Definitely one to look out for.
Each collection we saw had a strong identity, and was available with accessories, to complete the look. There really were some lovely ideas showcased.
In the Heritage collection, I loved how they used a vintage French stamp as a motif.
The bright and modern light switch plates, that were showcased, were also a hit with me, as were the twin packs of framed prints. You can see the Marmite and Baked Beans below.
How about Valspar paint mixing system too? It’s a new paint matching system to B&Q, that allows you to bring in an item, for them to match the paint to. Apparently its really accurate, and there are many more colours available than on the previous system. My Local B&Q is yet to get Valspar, but I have been given a voucher to try it out, and I have been hatching a plan on using it, which I can’t wait to show you. The quality is supposed to be fantastic, and it even works out a little cheaper too!
So on the whole, I was so impressed with what my favourite DIY store had to offer for spring summer 2014, and I will be using some of their pieces in my bedroom makeover, which I am very excited to reveal to you. I am at the point of finalising my mood board at the moment, and I’m having great fun sourcing interesting pieces.
Thank you to B&Q for inviting me. I was not asked to write this post, however I wanted to share with you my favourite B&Q pieces from the event.

I think their new collections look fantastic, I noticed them at my local branch last week. I’ve already got my hands on some of the valspar paint, I had some colours matched to my new wallpaper. I’m really looking forward to hearing what you have planned.

I’m hoping to use the valspar paint for my ensuite, in a couple of weeks. It’s not at my local branch yet though. I want to try and match it up to some Orla Keily towels I’ve got my eye on. It looks like the new collection is in now, it was in my local branch too. Love the accessories!
