As part of this series, I have been testing out my new Kenwood Kmix blender. Its been great, the only thing I’m not enjoying is the extra hand washing of the glass blender, but it’s just a case of putting it in soak straight away, and then its really easy. I can’t tell how much of a difference having a smoothie for breakfast has made to me, instead of my usual two VERY strong coffees. I’ve been experimenting with ingredients and thought I would share three of my favourites with you.
My smoothie maker is a Kmix Blender, but there are lots of others available on the market. My one tip though would be to choose one that is strong enough to crush ice, as this make such a difference to the smoothie. It tastes fresher, and is definitely more refreshing because of the ice, perfect for those morning when you need a little pep in your step!
- 1 medium banana
- 250 g mango
- 100 g of fat free vanilla yoghurt
- 1 tbsp of oats
- 300 ml of skimmed milk
- 5 cubes of ice
- Alternatively : Berry Breakfast Smoothie
- 6 Strawberries
- 200 g of blueberries
- 100 g of fat free yoghurt
- 300 ml of skimmed milk
- 5 cubes of ice
- Finally : Simply Bananas
- 2 small bananas, you can also add melon to this recipe.
- 100 g of fat free vanilla yoghurt
- 300 ml of skimmed milk
- 5 cubes of ice
- Put all of the ingredients in the blender and mix.
- You may need to leave out the ice if your blender isn’t able to crush ice, but make sure all of your ingredients are straight from the fridge where possible.
They are all so delicious, the addition of oats in the first smoothie just makes it slightly thicker and more filling. Oats a slow release of energy too, so a great one for breakfast time. I like fat-free yoghurt, but you could add which ever one is your favourite. I don’t think you can really tell its fat-free so that why I prefer to use that one.
I’ve lost 6 pounds since I have been writing this new years resolution series, which I am so chuffed about, and my clothing (especially my jeans) are fitting better too. My final post, will be up next week, with the final results.
My New Years Resolution’ brought to you in Collaboration with Argos.
