What do you want from your heating and hot water systems in your home?
I need mine to be reliable.
I need to control it, so that I have heating and hot water, when I need it.
Cost is an extremely important factor, as gas and electricity is extortionately high. I want to find ways of decreasing the cost.
With this in mind I have been looking at the Honeywell Evohome system – You can find the full details HERE.
How does the Evohome system work?
With the help of a hub, as illustrated above and a and the use of a mobile/tablet and the Evohome App, you can control the heating and hot water of your home, whether you are there or away. With the addition of the Evohome kits fitted to the radiators, in all of the rooms you wish to control, you can zone your heating.
What are the benefits?
Now the ability to zone in your home to my mind is a huge feature, and one that could save you a lot of money each year. In actual fact Evohome could save you up to 40% on your heating bills.
Now if thats not nifty enough the Evohome system is an intelligent system that learns how long it takes your home to heat up to the perfect temperature. So its knows when it needs to activate in order to provide you and your family with a cosy home, and hot water.
So what are my conclusions?
I think this is a fantastic system for several reasons. I like the idea of not wasting energy. So if you are not at home, you can keep the heating off until you are. We all lead such busy lives, that the use of your mobile to control the heating is a fantastic benefit. As I work from home, I only really (unless cleaning the house) use two rooms in my house for most of the day. So it makes complete sense in Autumn and Winter to zone those rooms, and not heat the rest of the house unnecessarily. I love that you can be very precise with your heating and hot water decisions. When you are all at home, maybe having a movie night, why not just heat the living room, then hot water for the baths, followed by the children’s bedrooms at bedtime when you go to bed. Control at your fingertips.
